“I can’t believe we’re married, although I get it if you want to do the big white official thing when we get home.”

Lifting his left hand to my lips, I pressed a kiss to his wedding ring. “Just like I wouldn’t change the way you proposed, I wouldn’t change how we got married. Legal, not legal. I don’t care as long as we promised ourselves to each other in front of our friends and family.”

She paused, “You said some beautiful words, Bear, but I didn’t say anything other thanI do.”

“Frankie, you wrote me half an album of love songs. You wow me with your words all the time. All I needed was theI do. They were the two most powerful words you could have said.”

“How long till we’re home?”

“Jack?” he asked the driver.

“Ten minutes. The roads are clear. Do you need the car later tonight or tomorrow?”

“No. I’ll call you if I need you. Otherwise, take some time off.”

“Congratulations to you both, Mr. and Mrs. Howells.”

Matt stiffened.

“Bear?”

“It’s nothing.”

“Tell me. Remember, no secrets?”

“Every time I hear that name, I think of Emma. I don’t want you to feel second best or a replacement for my first wife.” His pain was palpable.

“Okay, so change your name to Hill. I don’t care what my surname is as long as the world knows we’re together.”

“And you’re okay with that.”

“Matt, you had a life before me. A wife. A son. I am happy with anything you need to do to protect their memory. I mean, I’m happy for us to both keep our own names if that’s easier.”

“No. I want us to have the same name,” he murmured as he traced his fingers down my arm, covering my skin in goosebumps. “But I don’t want to feel like I’m being kicked in the gut every time I hearMrs. Howells. I think me taking your name is the perfect solution. Won’t people think it’s weird?”

“Fuck them. We’re doing this on our terms, Bear. I don’t give a shit what people think. I’ve learned that from Gray. We don’t have to do what’s expected.”

He leaned in closer, his running beard along my shoulder and neck. “God, I love you so much. You have to be the most amazing woman on the planet. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to the fact that you chose to be with me.”

“I had no choice. You’re pretty hard to resist, big man.”

The car pulled to a stop. “Matt, we’re back at the house. You have my number if you want the car at all. I’m here for anything you need.”

“Thank you.” Matt opened the door, helping me out before lifting me into his arms.

“I can walk, husband.”

“Why, when I can carry you? Fuck, I need to be inside you right now,” he groaned as he bit my nipple through my jumpsuit, making me cry out, arching my back for more.

“Get inside, before we get arrested for indecency,” I panted.

We moved inside the house, and I gasped as I looked around. Rose petals and candles covered the floor, leading a path to the bedroom.

“Did I mention how stunning you look tonight?” Matt asked, his eyes hooded as he stared at me.

“You chose well.”

“Out of everything I’ve ever seen you in, that red jumpsuit was my favorite. And now you wore a white one to our wedding.”
