“Thank you, Shelby,” Vorx called when I reached the door.

I paused to look back. “Don’t thank me until I make something edible.”

“Not for breakfast. For the pretty view of your ass. Your breasts and pussy are nice, but your ass is my favorite part.”

My mouth dropped open, and a flush exploded on my face. I quickly fled the room.

“I think asses are like pussies,” I heard Turik say when I cleared the door. “We can look at them and think about them, but we shouldn’t talk about them.”

I hurried away before I laughed. Vorx’s compliment, while a bit crude, was given sincerely. And it had been a long time since someone told me I looked nice without there being a hidden meaning behind it.

While Turik helped Vorx, I looked over the breakfast options. We had everything needed to make a healthy serving of biscuits and gravy. With my mouth already watering, I set to work.

I was so focused on the end goal that I didn’t hear either of them when they emerged from the bathroom. It wasn’t until I slipped the biscuits into the oven and turned around that I saw them leaning against the wall, watching me.

I glanced at the messy island and motioned to the chairs on the other side.

“Sit. I’ll clean this up. How are the stitches feeling today?”

“They itch,” Vorx said, moving with more grace and less wincing than the day before.

“I heard it doesn’t take long for the fey to heal, but I’m kind of amazed you’re so much better already. When do the stitches come out?” I asked as I cleaned off the counter.

“In three or four days. Ghua’s stitches stayed in for seven, and it was too long.”

“Good to know.” I moved away to start on the gravy. “What are the plans for today, then?”

“Whatever you want to do,” Turik said, sitting beside Vorx.

“I’d like to go back to Tenacity and see if Matt would be willing to let me have my old clothes,” I glanced back at Vorx. “If you’re okay being on your own for a bit.”

“I will be fine,” he promised.

“You don’t need to go back for clothes,” Turik said. “There are plenty in the supply shed here. I can take you.”

I hadn’t been looking forward to returning to Tenacity but had thought my need for underwear would make it unavoidable. Turik’s option sounded much better.

“Are my clothes from yesterday clean?” I asked.

“They are.” Turik’s gaze flicked to my breasts, and he made no move to get the clothes.

Inwardly amused, I turned away from them to finish our breakfast. Their hesitant first bites turned into hungry shoveling and made all the work worthwhile, especially when Turik insisted on doing the clean-up while Vorx fetched my clothes.

A quick shower and change later, Turik and I were on our way to the storage shed.

“Could we stop by Ryan’s to see what he found yesterday?” I asked.

“Yes.”

Julie greeted us warmly and asked if we’d eaten.

“Shelby made biscuits and gravy. The meat and gravy were delicious.”

“Not the biscuits?” I asked.

Turik blinked at me, saying nothing, and Julie chuckled as she led us farther into the house.

“The fey aren’t much for the grain-based foods. Or tomatoes. Or okra.”
