Vorx’s growling stomach pulled me out of my thoughts, and I looked up to find him studying me.

“I’ll go check on your food. Stay put. I mean it.”

He grunted, and I felt his lingering gaze on my backside as I walked away.

In the kitchen, I found Turik with a loaded plate.

“Vorx is ready for something to eat, and I think I’m going to turn in early. Any chance you’d be willing to sleep in his room tonight to keep an eye on him? He was trying to stand on his own when he should have asked for help.” I hesitated a moment. “And honestly, I’d rather not have a repeat of last night.”

“I will sleep with Vorx.”

I fought not to smirk at how that sounded.

“Thanks, Turik. I’ll see you in the morning.”

I waved as I walked away, ready for a little alone time. However, the bedroom didn’t feel comfortingly quiet. It felt empty. Scarily so when my thoughts turned to Vorx’s questions and Nat.

Rather than sleeping peacefully, I tossed and turned. Minutes stretched to hours until I finally gave up and acknowledged that I didn’t feel safe alone.

The house was dark and quiet as I made my way to Vorx’s room. Both fey lay in the bed, each on their own side and their feet hanging off the end. The quiet picture immediately wrapped me in a sense of calm, and my gaze settled on the gap between the pair.

I knew where I wanted to be, and it looked like there was just enough space.

Trying notto disturb either of them, I carefully crept onto the bed and settled into place. The heat coming off of Vorx’s damaged side lulled me, and I closed my eyes with a quiet exhale. Just as I was drifting off, I felt him lean in and kiss my forehead like I’d done to him.

Turik moved slightly, and a blanket settled over me.

A soft smile curved my lips, and I gave in to the need for sleep.

When I next woke, sweat coated my back and face, and something hard and heavy pressed between my butt cheeks. Frowning, I blinked my eyes open to an up-close view of the chiseled chest I was using for a pillow. I lifted my head and looked at Vorx.

“Good morning, Shelby,” he said softly.

“Morning.”

I twisted to look at Turik, who was laying on his side, spooning me.

Because he had to.

I’d somehow managed to wedge more room for myself and was lying at an angle, taking up most of the bed.

“Sorry,” I murmured, scooting away from his groin where I was doing the pressing.

“For what?” Turik asked.

“Hogging the bed.”

“We liked it.”

“I could tell.” I smirked at him before glancing at Vorx. “I shouldn’t have used you as a pillow. I didn’t bump the stitches at all, did I?”

He flashed a considerable number of teeth at me. “I didn’t feel any pain.”

“I bet.” I rubbed my hands over my face. “How about I make breakfast this morning while Turik helps you to the bathroom?”

They both grunted, and I crab crawled from my place in bed.
