“I don’t think you’re focusing on the question. What happens if I have sex with both of you going forward? Polyamorous relationships aren’t socially acceptable by most United States citizens. The likelihood of me being shunned by the other humans is high, and I don’t want to get kicked out again.

“I like living here with both of you. I love the way you’re spoiling me. Your goal was to make me feel safe and not want to leave. Well, I do feel safe, and I really don’t want to leave. But I think that’s exactly what I’ll be forced to do if I have sex with both of you.

“And it’s messing with my head because I don’t simply want to have my cake and eat it too. I want a damn bucket of ice cream with it.”

Their slightly troubled expressions shifted to pure confusion.

“I can make a lemon cake,” Turik said, standing. “But we don’t have any ice cream.”

“I can leave and—”

“That’s not what I meant,” I said, cutting off Vorx and stopping both of them. “It means that I want to be able to have this house, the feeling of safety, and both of you in my life. But right now, it feels like I have to choose between having this home and having the two of you.”

Turik and Vorx shared a long look. Finally, Turik met my gaze.

“You can have both. We will tell our brothers that humans don’t believe in two husbands, and they will not tell the humans.”

“Do you honestly think that Ghua, who is telling you every detail about his sex life with Eden, will keep a secret from her?”

“If telling her means we would need to find a home away from our brothers, yes.”

I understood then what Vorx and Turik were saying. It wasn’t a matter of choosing. The choice was already made. We were a package deal in their heads. If I was shunned, we would all be shunned. And knowing that made the situation that much harder.

“I think I need some fresh air,” I said, pushing my plate away.

Ten minutes later, I was using my own two feet to make my way to the place where some of the Tolerance women liked to meet up. Turik explained that it was a training area with a large plastic target for archery and dummies for stabbing. But they both lit up when they mentioned the grass ring where the women “struggle with one another.”

“They used to start earlier, but Angel likes to sleep longer now, and the others like when Angel yells at them.”

They were painting a weird picture that didn’t come close to reaching the appropriate level for what I saw when I arrived. The large plastic target was actually a pile of melted sex toys. Angel, the only visibly pregnant woman in attendance, wasn’t yelling at the other women. She was down on her knees, hitting the ground as she counted out a pin. The other non-wrestling participants were looking on with amusement while holding bows.

“Three,” Angel yelled. “Hannah is the winner of this round. Stand up and take it like a woman, Eden. Hannah’s choice.”

Hannah extended her hand to the scowling Eden and helped her off the ground.

“Just remember, I was good to you on the last one,” Eden said.

Hannah’s smile was pure radiance.

“How can I forget? Your dare earned me a bareback spanking that made it hard to sit for lunch.”

“Don’t even pretend that it wasn’t worth it,” Angel said, struggling to her feet with the help of a fey. “According to what I heard, you were having a grand old time until Merdon broke free of the handcuffs.”

Hannah’s smile softened and turned secretive.

“So worth it. Which is why I’m going to return the favor. So what’s it going to be? Truth or Dare?”

Eden’s panicked gaze swept over the bystanders and landed on me.

“Look! The new girl is here. Hi, Shelby. Come on over and meet everyone.”

She marched over to hook her arm through mine and dragged me toward her circle of friends.

“This is Hannah.” She pointed to the match-winner with the curly blonde hair. “And Angel.” She indicated the pregnant lady. “And Brenna and Tasha.” The two with the bows.

“Hi,” I said, trying for friendly but feeling inept.

“So what do you think of feight club? Stands for fey fight club. Although, come to think of it, that name doesn’t make much sense when it’s all human women in the club. Want to join? We have archery and knifing dummies and—”
