“What the fuck are you doing here?” I snapped, not in the mood to deal with him. Living in the same house as him and not killing him was hard enough.

“Well, I came to see if she needed a ride before you two gave her a hard time.” His gaze went past me to West and Kat. “Obviously, I’m late.”

“I’m not going with any of you.”

I faced her right as she tore away from West, backing away until she hit the far wall. Glancing at my watch, I frowned when I realized we needed to leave soon if we wanted to get to the Estate on time. Stalking to her closet, I grabbed the closest dress and folded it over my arm before bending down and grabbing a pair of black heels.

“Do not make me tell you again,” I warned her, meeting her gaze. “We’re leaving.”

She stayed near the wall, not moving a muscle. “You can’t order me around. My last name carries as much weight in this town as all three of yours. So you can fuck off with trying to tell me what to do.”

Tossing the dress and shoes to West, I strode across the room. She lifted her chin, refusing to be intimidated when I stopped inches in front of her. My pulse was hammering, my anger reaching its breaking point from all the shit that had happened in the last couple of weeks.

“Your family’s name is important.” Gripping her hips, I shoved her against the wall. “You’ve been gone nine years. And William? He doesn’t trust you.”

“He’s the one who sent me away in the first place.” She didn’t make a move to push me away. “He always knew I’d come back.”

“You’re right,” I agreed, causing her eyes to narrow. “He did know. But he doesn’t trust you. He told West and me to keep an eye on you. That includes making sure you get to family dinner every Sunday. I’m not going to get bitched at because you refuse to listen.”

Her lips curled up into a smirk. “All these years later, and you’re still our parents’ little errand boys. Still doing everything they tell you?”

God, she was fucking infuriating. I knew she was purposely trying to get under my skin, but that didn’t stop my annoyance from flaring. She was going to make this year a nightmare.

“Soon, it won’t be them in charge,” I murmured in a low voice. “It’ll be the four of us. West and I have already started helping with the family business. Thanks to you leaving, you have no idea about any of it.”

Curiosity lined her face before she frowned. “In a year, I’ll know all of it too.”

“Right now, I’m not feeling like sharing any of that information. What about you, West?”

“Nope,” West answered from behind me. “I think we’ll keep it to ourselves for now.”

River grumbled something under his breath as her eyes darted between all three of us. She went rigid when my hand left her hip. I twisted a piece of her purple hair between my fingers until her attention came back to me.

“You can’t push me out,” she snapped. “That’s not how this city works—”

“You mean like your mother?” I cut in, feeling the tiniest stab of guilt for bringing that up. But Kat needed to learn she wasn’t going to get away with whatever the hell she had planned. This city hadn’t been hers for years. It was West and I who dealt with all the bullshit. She couldn’t come back and expect everything to be handed to her. It wasn’t going to happen.

“You’re an asshole.”

I caught her wrist before her palm collided with my face. Tightening my grip when she tried squirming away, I grabbed her other arm, keeping her against the wall. Her chest heaved as my lips grazed her cheek. I could feel her heart beating out of control when my chest met hers.

“I’m not a total asshole,” I breathed in her ear, ignoring how my dick was reacting to her body pressed against mine. “I give people three chances before I decide to strike back. I’m wiping away all the shit you did in the past. You trying to hit me? That’s your first strike, Kat. And I can fucking promise you really don’t want to get to three.”

“Does this mean my past is wiped away too?” River asked behind me with a laugh. “Or does that only apply to her?”

Glancing over my shoulder, I saw West shoving River, who had been inching up behind me, back. River’s eyes flashed in anger, his fists clenching. Letting go of Kat, I stepped between them.

“We don’t have time for this,” I ground out. “We’re going to be late.”

“I’ll go with you,” Kat announced, causing all of us to focus back on her. “Without fighting. Once you tell me how you knew where I was today.”

I gritted my teeth. “Tell us what you were doing at the hotel first.”

Sauntering across the room, she grabbed the dress and shoes that West had dropped on the bed. West inched forward, as if she was going to try to leave.

“Why else do people go to hotels in the middle of the day?” she asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Sex?” West blurted out, his hazel eyes darkening. “You drove two hours to have someone fuck you?”
