I open the passenger door, and she slides inside gracefully. The buttery soft leather seat hugs her curves. In an accident, the steel frame and self-driving calculations will protect her. Only the best for Audrey.

Scooting to the driver's side, I get in and turn it on. "What do you think of the car?" The engine's growl kicks up as I drive out of the parking lot.

"It's good, but it doesn't exactly purr under me. Not like other cars you've had in the past."

"Okay. I get your point but living in Rorvik made me see things differently."

"So being immersed in a pristine natural environment rubbed off on you," she says. As I wait for a break in traffic, I glance at her. Her provocative gaze makes it difficult to break eye contact when the lights turn green.

"Let's just say being away from home for so long, opened my eyes to what's important."

I reach across the center console and take her delicate hand in mine, so she doesn't misunderstand. I'm not talking about the environment because I only care about her.

Audrey is the first thought on my mind each morning and the last one each night. I want her to be the first to know when things go right. Likewise, when things go wrong. I'm ready to find out if our bond is unbreakable, as I believe it is.

I'm willing to do what it takes to win her heart, but does she feel the same way? Is she ready to stand up to her family?

LUCA

Audrey hangs her coat on the rack by the door and surveys the apartment. Her gaze sweeps from the warm, rich brown hardwood floors to the wall of unbroken windows framing the view over the beach.

"You tricked me!" She breathes out an easy laugh. "I was expecting the set of Hocus Pocus, but the place is immaculate."

She glares in my direction and finds me grinning shamelessly. In the grand scheme of things, it's a small trick to play to get her to come home with me.

"It feels flat and lifeless, Auds." Striding to the oak sideboard, I pull out a box of Christmas decorations. "Can you help me add a little bling?"

"Five minutes of being in the same room with you, and I'm at your beck and call like your own personal servant," she teases, arching a brow.

My thoughts immediately go to images of her, naked, and I shift position to hide the effect she has on my body. It doesn't take much to turn me on when I'm with her.

Audrey struts over and begins rummaging through the contents. She pulls out ornament after ornament, arranging them on the floor by color and size.

"These don't look too good." She holds up a mass of cables, scrutinizing the puzzle. "They're all tangled up," she says, delicately tugging the jumbled ball of wires and fragile glass.

I extend my hand in a gimme gesture.

"I've got it." She shakes her head and stubbornly refuses my offer to help, giving the jumbled mess another tug.

I may as well make myself useful. "Hot chocolate?"

"Yes, please." Her gaze remains fixed on the problem at hand, so I lean in and press a kiss to her cheek. I catch a glimmer of a smile. This woman is mine.

When I return, the lower parts of the tree are decked out with heavier ornaments. She's standing and working her way to the middle. Setting her mug of hot chocolate on the coffee table, I drop to the couch and watch her untangle a string of lights. She reaches up and drapes it over a tree bough.

"You're staring," she says, without turning around.

I blow the steam rising from my mug and take a sip. "Admiring the view. And the lights twinkling and whatnot."

As I take another swallow, she glances over her shoulder. The corners of her mouth quiver when I smack my lips with satisfaction. The view is incredibly sexy and getting me harder by the minute.

"You need one of these," I say, grabbing a couple of Santa hats from the box. I pop one on my head, and one on hers. "To help get in the mood."

"You want me to be your jolly little elf?"

I cock my head to one side and shrug. Amusement dances in her eyes, and she breaks into that loud laugh I love so much. The one that lights me up inside more than any Christmas lights could because it's spontaneous, pure, and just for me.
