CHAPTER 11

On the wayto the airport, I asked Mia, “How did you know I would be there?”

She rested her hands on the truck’s steering wheel. “Did you think we didn’t know? Goodness, Jacob has loved you forever.”

“How do you know?”

“I’m his twin. I know him better than he knows himself.”

I mused, “Jacob and I have hurt each other, Mia. You know it’s complicated.”

She smiled sweetly at me. “Wouldn’t be much fun if it wasn’t.”

The ride to the airport was quick. I’d showered and dressed in some of the clothes Mia had left behind in the apartment.

We entered the airport through a corporate jet gate, and waited for the borrowed plane to arrive.

Ford had generously donated his plane to the Foundation in exchange for some exposure on his new ‘Warrior’ campaign and clothing line.

The sleek, black Gulfstream landed and taxied to where we were parked. Emblazoned on the aircraft’s side was the ‘Savage’ logo, a testament to the hard work and commitment Ford’s company had to excellence.

The jet, carrying seven of the men for the calendar, rolled to a stop, the engines spooling down, and humming softly until they were completely quiet.

When the doors opened and the passengers started down the steps, Mia placed her fingers under my chin, pushing gently upward. “Easy, girl. You looked otherwise spoken for this morning.”

Out of the side of my mouth, I murmured, “I can still appreciate.”

In my mind, they moved in slow motion, their tailored suits and rugged outerwear accentuating their flawless physiques as they strode across the tarmac. Expensive sunglasses covered their eyes from the glare of the mid-morning sun, and leather overnight bags were slung over their broad shoulders.

Yep, I knew what I was doing when I came up with the idea for this calendar.

By the time they reached us, I was no longer in sexual shock, and was able to greet them all by name. Many of them were friends of Mia’s fiancé so she was met with big bear hugs.

John pulled up in his SUV, and parked next to Mia’s truck.

Next was Jenna, and I’d never felt more relieved to have someone else be the center of attention. She gave them all flirty smiles.

“Gentleman, thank you for supporting our little calendar. We are so happy to have you here.” She greeted each of them personally, shaking their hands and extending a warm welcome.

I bristled a bit at her condescending mention of the calendar. Why was she calling it little? I’d worked really hard to pull this together, especially in the midst of all my current life drama.

“We’re happy to be here,” one of the men said with a slight drawl. “I’m Alec DeVry.”

I thought Jenna was going to pass out when she met the NASCAR driver.

A more boisterous man introduced himself, joking, “Anything for a free trip to Jackson. Case Kennedy. Nice to meet you.”

“Wouldn’t miss catching up with Mia and John,” another said.

“Looking forward to a little alone time again with Camille,” said John’s brother, Brett, adding a flirtatious wink.

All eyes swiveled to John’s brother, except Mia’s, who glared at me.

“So good to see you again, Brett,” I greeted him politely. The silence was deafening. Some of the men grinned broadly, waiting to see how this was going to pan out.

Brett rubbed his chest with a fist, and laughed. “Ouch, Camille. Okay, I see you. We can talk later.”

John closed his eyes in a silent effort to hide his annoyance at his brother. He appeared a little more focused when he opened them and addressed the group. “OK, guys, let’s get you set up at the hotel and then, I think Jenna will be going over the photoshoot agenda with you. Did I get that right, Jenna?”
