“Right? And the best part?”
“What’s the best part?” I leaned into him.
“John wants me as an equal partner.”
My eyes went wide. “Really?”
He nodded. “Yep.”
My heart raced. “What about the shop? Mia can’t run it full time, and do excursions.”
He drawled slowly, “Well, that’s also part of the best part.”
“Okay….”
“Cody wants to buy into Brooks Outfitters.”
I nodded. “Oh, good for Cody. That totally makes sense.”
“Yep.” He leaned forward to kiss me. Soft lips nipped and caressed mine. “Now that that’s out of the way, I have some business of my own to take care of.” He lay me back on the couch and lifted my shirt.
He nuzzled my belly, moaning with pleasure as he kissed his way up my stomach. I sat up so he could pull the shirt over my head.
As I lay back down, I asked, “Will the shop be called Brooks Price Outfitters?”
He didn’t answer. He pulled one bra strap down and groaned as he kissed the tops of my breasts.
“Or maybe Brooks Price Barringer Outfitters?”
“Mmmmmm, quiet.”
I stared at the ceiling. “Or maybe Brooks Price Barringer Bradley Outfitters.”
He lifted his head, and laughed. “That sounds like a law firm.”
I smiled at him.
He started to unbutton my jeans. “Now be quiet, I’m dying to touch you.”
My guilty conscience stopped me from letting him go any further. I put my hands over his and he paused what he was doing.
He scooted back on the couch. His brow furrowed. “What’s the matter?”
I took a deep breath. “I need to tell you something.”
“Okay…” he drawled.
“Please know that what I’m going to tell you might change things between us.”
“What did you do Camille?” he asked, his tone deepened.
I wrung my hands together. “Please also know that I love you, Jacob. I have always loved you, and if this changes how you feel about me, I can accept that.”
“You’re making me nervous.” He stood.
I remained seated, if only to keep myself grounded. “I feel like we are in a good place, and I don’t want us to move forward together until you know everything.”
He rolled his hand impatiently for me to continue.
