“I see,” I reply, and he drops my cheek so I can glare at Ryes. “We’llnotbe making fun of him for that. It’s mean.”

“You might not,” Ryes teases. “It’s not my fault I’m gifted and he’s not.”

I roll my eyes, but take Eirik’s hand as we head through to the living room. Ciar is the only one home, and I squeeze Eirik’s hand before rushing over to where he’s sitting with a grin. He’s in his usual breakfast spot, the middle seat on the right hand side, and he moves back just enough to let me scoot in between his knees.

“I’ve missed you,” I murmur, and he puts his phone down and gives me his full attention. He tucks my hair behind my ear before ducking his head to kiss me.

He captures my lips in a fierce kiss, pulling me into him, and I moan when he bites my bottom lip.

“So, is this like watching porn?” Ryes asks, and I gasp, pulling away from Ciar as I start giggling at the teasing expression on Ryes’s face.

“You’re such a little shit,” Ciar says, rolling his eyes. Ryes shrugs.

“Well, I’m just curious.”

“What are your plans this evening?” Ciar asks, looking at me with a raised eyebrow.

“Um, none. I’ve finished with classes, have no homework. I was just going to make dinner.”

“Perfect. We’re going out.”

“No!” Ryes protests with a groan. “I’m starving.”

“You’re not invited,” Ciar says with a smirk.

“Now you’re just rubbing salt into the wound,” Ryes says dramatically. His mettlesome nature makes me laugh harder, and I know it only encourages him to act up. “I hope the two of you have fun, though.”

“We will,” Ciar replies. He looks down at me and gives me a smile. “You ready to go?”

“Now?” I ask, looking down at my school uniform with a wrinkle in my nose. “Like this?”

“What? It’s not like you’re going aboard a fancy ship,” Ciar teases.

“Well, looks like I’m no longer available,” I reply. “I’m only available for men who take me to fancy dinners atop lavish boats.” I adopt a fake snobbish tone that has Eirik and Ryes laughing.

“I’m more of a bad boy on a motorcycle kind of guy.”

I burst into giggles, ducking my head to hide my face because he really, really isn’t. My hair covers my face as I desperately try to control my laughter, but it’s not successful because Ryes bursts into loud guffaws, setting me off even harder.

“What?” Ciar demands, but I hear the amusement in his tone. “I’d be an amazing biker man.”

“Fucking hell,” Eirik mutters, sounding like he’s struggling to control his laughter, too. “How is this our conversation?”

Ryes stops laughing, and I straighten up, wiping away the tears and grin at Ciar.

He tweaks my nose. “You’re lucky you’re cute, or I’d be truly offended you don’t think I’m some macho muscle man with great bike riding skills. Grab some shoes because I don’t want your toes getting cold.”

I nod, and dart off to do what he says. I grab some flats from the shoe rack, and also a cardi. Like he said, I don’t want to get cold. Especially not since I know I can getacold.

Not sure why I ever thought getting magicae made me indestructible.

I slowly walk back into the kitchen, completely unashamed at my listening for hints. I’m terrible with surprises. I’m even worse when it comes to my birthday or Christmas.

On the other hand, Ilovesurprising other people.

“Yeah, I’ll make sure she gets something to eat,” Ciar says as Eirik coughs, and all three men turn to face me with identical blank expressions.

“Traitor,” I say, giggling once more.
