“Yes,” he says gently. “But I know how happy you are, how loved you are. That’s not something I can feel jealous over.”

“So you just lose the ability completely?” I ask, and I hate myself for kind of sneering that at him.

“No,” he replies, shaking his head. “I get jealous when I’m stuck working and the others are getting to spend quality time with you.” He steps closer. “I get jealous knowing the others are the ones getting to make you moan whilst I’m not there to watch.” He cups my cheek, and the heat in his eyes is enough to burn my clothes off.Wow.

“I get jealous because I know how fucking sexy you look when you’re in the moment, and I don’t get to see it,” he says, his husky voice sending tingles down my spine before connecting his lips to mine.

He draws every ounce of worry from me, soothing me with his lips, with his touch. Only then does he step back.

“Um…” I whisper, unable to speak. My legs feel like jelly, my tummy tingling in a way that’s leaving me wanting more.

He smirks. “Later, greedy girl. You good?”

I nod.

“Recount it to me,” he says, and I gape at him. “Tell me what we covered.”

“Um, you get jealous you’re not therewithme and the others, not that they’re there at all,” I say, and he nods.

“Exactly. I don’t want them out,mo sholas. I know I’m not worthy enough to have you all to myself, but I most definitely want a piece of you,” he says softly.

“Ciar—”

He shakes his head. “Don’t try to lie, baby girl. You’re too perfect for the eight of us, but we’re selfish fucks who want you anyway. Now, let’s go. I’m excited.”

I can barely keep up, but I take his hand, and let him lead me down the street. We pass a few different places, including the cafe Tien and I went to and Owlyn’s clothing shop, before halting outside what I think is a restaurant.

It’s hard to tell, since there are no signs and the building is huge, but we’re here to eat, so I’m guessing it is one.

Ciar opens the door, and I amfloored.

“Whoa,” I spin around, not very gracefully, as I try to take everything in. “Where are we?”

“My favourite place,” he replies, and I turn back to look at him. I spot a little blush, but I don’t understand why. This is the most adorable thing ever. “Well, one of them.”

“It’s an aquarium.”

“Um, sure, sort of,” he replies, rubbing the back of his neck. “It’s more of a rehab place. They take in animals who are hurt, and help heal them, giving them time to thrive, before releasing them back to the wild. There’s more than just aquatic animals here.”

“Oh.”So where does the food come into this? We’re not…“Ciar… we’re not eating these animals, right? That’s not why you brought me here?”

“No!” He gasps, shaking his head as he takes ragged breaths. “Definitely not. Not only would I hate that, but these animals are protected from hunters. There is a noxious energy surrounding them, so anyone who tries to hurt them for food—”

“Dies,” I whisper, completely at awe. “I love this world.”

“Me too,” he murmurs. “I’m glad that you came with me. I’ll show you around.”

We head over to the main desk, and he pays for two tickets before we get into the main body of the building. Ciar gives me a bit of history as we walk around, explaining that the ticket prices are used to help fund the place, and then goes on to introduce me to all the animals.

Some are similar to those on Earth—especially the fish. But some are crazy different, and it’s those that hold my attention.

My personal favourite was the fussople. It’s so different to anything I’ve met before. Seven legs, a bright red shell on its back, similar to a turtle or tortoise, but no head. Its eyes are on its belly, and it can survive out of the water for up to eight months, but thrives under water.

They mate, but they produce their babies through magicae. Because, yeah.

The animals have access to magicae, too.

“You still thinking about the dikorts?” he asks, and I laugh but shake my head. The little dikort bugs were cute, their wings bigger than their body, but they’re so light that they can still fly. “The ceallip?”
