The souls of my soul. She’s a fucking soul witch and her bond goes deeper than just linking ourprimordium.

She’s fusing our souls together.

How could I have been so stupid?

Nobody fights her song. Nobody fights her call.

Instead, I give in. I let her do whatever she wants to do.

I accept my calling.

And for a brief moment, it’s everything I never knew I wanted. I feel our magicaes in sync, blurring together as we start our bond. It’s pure ecstasy, fulfilment, and truly emotional as we join souls.

I’ve never felt harmony like it.

But, of course, it’s not that simple. Not where Zoe’s concerned.

I scream, and I’m not the only one. All eight of us are lying on the floor, experiencing the same excruciating pain.

And it’s all coming because of our mate.

It’s like something is burning my soul, oh wait… that’s probably because that is exactly what is happening. It’s like she’s etching her way into my genetic makeup, creating a little spot for herself and I know that I’ll never get rid of her.

Right now, that’s something that makes me happy. But once her influence goes away, and my logic returns, I know I’m going to resent her for it.

Would it really be the worst thing to enjoy this?

It’s bittersweet, the pain settling as a dull ache before suddenly, I can’t stand it. It somehow manages to get worse. The pain starts burning up through the layers of my skin before my arms, my legs, and even my chest begin burning.

I scream again, the sound mixing with noises from the men around me before it just… stops.

I notice bright gold light coming from my skin. I pull the sleeves of my arms up, seeing the same golden runes that Mael was donning decorating myself.

Zoe drops to the floor, banging her head on the coffee table, but nobody moves fast enough to catch her.

In fact, nobody moves at all. We’re all gobsmacked.

“She’s bonded us,” Necos says, looking at his hands in amazement.

“Why the fuck did she do it to me again?” Mael mutters, sounding sullen. “I don’t like any of you fuckers, so it best not have been an inclusive move.”

Zohar crawls over to her, and I can almost smell the water in the air as he starts to heal our mate.

“Is this how you felt last time?” Ryes asks, looking at Mael for guidance.

“No,” Mael scoffs. “Last time it hurt worse.”

“Pussy,” Ryes teases.

“Nah, it really did,” Mael says. “Because she started this and then didn’t finish. This time it was over much faster.”

“Fuck, I can’t imagine,” I say, and then get promptly ignored by all of them.Dickheads.

“How is she?” Etrix asks, not having looked up from the rune on his shin.

“She’s just drained,” Zohar says. “I’ve healed the cut from the fall, but otherwise, she just needs sleep.”

“We need to stick close,” Mael says, and I frown. That sounds like exactly what I don’t want to do.
