Right now, her army is building without her there to lead us.

But soon, so fucking soon, she’ll be here, and we’ll be ready to help her reclaim her heritage.

You have soldiers, little love, you just need to accept your fate.

ELZORA

Everything in me hums in a positive kind of way. I feel settled. Balanced even.

My eyes fly open, taking stock of the room around me as I realise why that is. Eight men, all decorated in the golden runes I gifted Mael with last month, are sitting chatting as if they’ve been friends forever.

Which is very strange considering I know that on a good day, the vast majority of them can barely stand each other.

On a bad day? Well, let’s hope we never encounter one of those.

Necos is wearing his suit from last night, but it’s a lot more rumpled than the pristine condition it was in. Jasper is in a pair of tracksuit bottoms, and no shirt, so I blush before looking past him.

Everyone else is in pyjamas—most of them shirtless like Jasper.

“Good morning, ZoZo,” Ryes says, grinning at me from his spot on the floor. His brows wiggle, and I can feel my blush deepening.

The others pause their conversation and turn to me in a creepy synchronised move. The identical smiles, the practiced wave… it’s eerie.

When did they bond this much?

“Um, morning.” What is going on? Are we still on Earth… in Mitagus?Wow, yeah, my reality has already been altered once.

Did they all sleep here?

I notice how drained they all seem, Zohar most of all, and my brows draw together in a frown.

Did they even sleep?

“How are you feeling?” Zohar asks, rising to his feet. Ciar disappears out of the room as Zohar kneels in front of me. He takes my arm in his hand, gently checking my pulse. I try and pull it back, but he narrows his eyes at me. “Let me see how you’re doing.”

His no nonsense tone has me obeying, even if I feel guilty.

His cool magicae rushes through me as he assesses for any injuries or disturbances in myprimordium, but I’m absolutely fine.

I just needed rest after using my essence to cast a spell last night, but I’ve recovered properly. Last time, I was nearly dying, the effects having me knocked on my butt for a few days as I recovered.

But this time, I feel absolutely fine.

“I’m fine,” I reassure him, but I don’t move from where I’m laying. This isn’t our first rodeo with me passing out, and I know it’s easier if I just do as he says.

But I still need answers from last night.

I lock eyes with Etrix, him being the one I was with before everything went wrong. He’s wearing a pair of pyjama pants that I think belong to Ciar, but he’s shirtless. His nipples are peeking at me, and the little bit of chest hair he has sort of covers up one of the runes.

I reach out for it before cringing and bringing my hands to my lap. Ryes snorts, but nobody else comments.

Etrix seems calm, and not as tired as the others. I’d have thought he’d be a lot more riled up after how last night went. Is this how my magicae has affected him?

I’ve given him balance?

“How is everything? Is everyone okay?” I ask, the urgency in my tone causing him to smile.
