Yours.

He said he couldn’t tell her he loved her, but was that Yours some hidden message?

Things at home had calmed down since Avryl’s letter to Axton a week ago. Numa and Yasmin were quiet. Lydia too. Nayomi was also quiet, but for different reasons.

It didn’t take long for Avryl to realize her other sisters believed her.

Axton was right. She stayed calm and in control, and eventually they came around to ask her what happened, so she told them everything. All of the details she’d kept hidden for two years came spilling out. Axton’s words and his letter were close to her, even though reading what he said pained her heart. There was strength in it still, and she imagined that having the pages close meant she had his strength close.

The only one who was the problem was Nayomi.

She sent Avryl one text the day after:

Don’t come to the club unless u abs need to.

No one tried to get Nayomi and Avryl to talk. The sisters all knew better than that. This wasn’t like the time Yasmin broke into Lydia’s closet for that dress from Gucci they all had their eyes on and then broke the zipper. Lydia was angry for weeks; that dress was the pride and joy of her closet.

This was much more than that dress or someone eating someone else’s leftover egg rolls.
