“Sarge! Black’s hit! It pierced his vest.” Cory's voice sounds off- scared. We’re fucking sitting ducks here. He helps get me settled against a wall, raising my pistol, taking aim as the two suspects round the corner, and unloads his ammo into the fuckers.

“Lev,” I groan, clutching my side.

He whispers, holding me tightly. “You’re okay. They’re sending the bus in. They’re gonna get you patched up.”

Blood pools around me, I'm losing too much. I'm going to die here, and I was an asshole to Andi today. I left her when she begged me to stay. Panic sets in. I'm going to fucking die here. I left Andi when she begged me to stay. How will she forgive me for fucking us up all over again? “I fucked up. With her. Tell her I’m sorry.”

“No!" He shakes his head frantically. “You’re gonna tell her.” He presses his hand to my bleeding side, trying to stop the blood from pouring. “Bring in the fucking bus already!”

Sarge is here, and he’s finally brought the paramedics in. They pull Cory from me, cutting away the fabric of my vest and shirt. My heart pounds inside my chest as I glance around at the bodies lying on the floor. As I'm pulled away, I can hear Cory and Milo talking. They're following me out.

“Get his phone. I have to call Andi.” Cory's voice shakes as he speaks.

“His dad is at the station,” Milo responds. “They’ll tell his dad.”

“You heard them arguing. No one is going to tell her. I have to make sure she knows. He asked me to tell her.”

How the hell did they know we were coming?
