“I’m on birth control,” she whispered.
He shot back up, sending droplets flying. But he ignored the sheen that now covered his face and turned to face her fully, eyebrows raised like he was afraid he’d misheard her.
“So you—” He shook his head. “Why am I being so awkward?” He huffed, and she bit into her lip to stop the chuckle. “I’m clean, and if you’re sure, then I want nothing more than to touch you.”
He reached out and tucked a curl behind her ear, then drew a featherlight path down her neck. She shuddered at the way the gentle touch set her skin ablaze.
His pupils dilated at the way her body responded. “There is something between us, and I’d like to see where it goes.” That vulnerability, one which was wholly unexpected, put her at ease. Everything about Declan, from his impossibly good looks to his grumpy demeanor, was intimidating. But when she looked into his eyes, when he spoke to her—focused solely on her and what she had to say—that disappeared. And he was just a guy. One who was as unsure as she was.
“Okay.” She nodded.
“Maybe it goes nowhere. But I’m tired of fighting this pull. And I’m glad you’re here with us. With me. Because you’ve made this trip better—fun. I couldn’t have done that.”
“What do you mean? You’ve been fun.”
He brushed a hand along her hip before he held tight and pulled. She lurched forward, and he settled her so her legs rested on either side of his.
She tensed, feeling exposed and transparent this close to him.
“We can talk, but Ineedto touch you while we do it,” he demanded. “I’ve spent the day wanting you closer. Just stay.”
She settled back on his strong legs, and he wrapped an arm behind her back, holding her steady.
“For six years, I lived on the edge. Worrying about what would piss Lauren off next. I walked on eggshells all the time. And fun? I never knew what level of fun would be okay for her, or what was too much. But all week, you’ve shown me what life can look like. And I want a few days to see what life feels like with you, if you’re willing.”
He dropped his gaze to her lips for a moment before he pulled it back up.
“I haven’t had a lot of time for dating. Greg isn’t like Lauren, but he only has Addy every other weekend. Between her and teaching, I’ve been busy. But”—she dropped her head, studying the way the water bubbled between them while she worked up the nerve to tell him her truth—“since you kissed me, I want more.” Even if it couldn’t go anywhere. She’d never in her life experienced the kind of chemistry she and Declan shared.
“I’m not sure that anything more than this week can work. Lauren might make my life hell—more than she already does—if I start seeing someone. But it’s getting harder and harder to keep my distance from you.”
He curled his fingers around the back of her neck, pulling her closer, but hesitated a breath away from her lips, leaving her to close the gap between them. She studied the way his dark eyes went soft, vulnerable, for a second, seeing both longing and honesty reflecting back at her. And then she pressed her lips to his. When his tongue traced along the seam of her mouth, she opened, allowing him in.
He groaned and pulled her body flush against his, his erection rocking hard against the apex of her thighs. And she wanted more.
He pulled back, his breath harsh and his eyes silently looking for permission. She nodded once and was rewarded when another heart-stopping grin split his face and he angled in again.
She pulled back before he could consume her again. “Are you sure Chris is asleep?”
He blew out a breath in an almost chuckle.
“My brain has been replaying a fantasy about fucking you right here for the last hour. But I really want to see you—all of you. Touch you. Worship every curve of your body. So maybe a door and a lock are in order.” He stood and offered her his hand.

Declan closedthe door to his bedroom and secured the lock before turning toward his Goldilocks in the white bikini. He wanted nothing more than to pull the string that tied around her neck and make the scrap of material covering her tits disappear.
