Page 16 of Christmas With Joy

I snort, wrapping my arms around him. “We only have what we’re given. But it’s nothing like that anyway.”

“What is it?”

I pull his big hand down to cup my belly and smile. “We’re having a baby.”

His dark brows raise and he stares at me, not breathing for a moment. “Hey!” I slap him on the back. “Breathe.”

He lets out a long breath and then he smiles the biggest, happiest smile that I’ve ever seen in my life. “We’re having a baby.”

“Yes. Are you happy?” For just a moment, doubts prick at me. We never really discussed kids in detail. I just assumed that he wanted them.

He lifts me up and twirls me around. I laugh wildly and smile down at his overjoyed face. “Put me down, you crazy man!”

He sets me down lightly and stares at my belly. “Are you okay? Do you need anything?”

I shake my head. “Just you and our baby. And this life that we have. That’s all I need.”

He leans over and kisses me lightly, that fire burning up between us like a wildfire ember catching on dry grass.

“And you’ve got me. Forever and always, little one.”

And I lean into him, a smile tilting my lips. “Then that’s all that I need.” Happiness blazes from his eyes and he grins.

“We’re gonna need to get the baby a pony.”

“Not for awhile,” I snort. “Save that thought.”

“I will. But there’s something else that I want to save right now.”

I quirk a brow. “What would that be?”

“You. And me. I need to be inside you.”

“I need that too. Take me to bed and claim me again, Jackson.”

“With pleasure, my Christmas Joy!”

And he lifts me up and carries me away to a feverish passion like nothing I’ve ever felt before.

And when I’m screaming his name, the pleasure taking me to a place I never knew existed until I found him, feeling his growl all the way to my toes, I know this is where I will always belong.

Sometimes family is what you’re born into and sometimes it’s what you find. And I found mine. With my forever love. The man who knows me and understands me more than any other person on this planet.

My one true love. And soon to be the father of my babies.

A girl really shouldn’t be this happy. But then again…who am I to quibble with fate and love?

It’s Christmas magic after all!

The End
