Page 23 of Her Christmas Harem

She considered drowning her sorrows in the complimentary wine in the fridge, but Emalee was so completely, utterly deflated she didn’t have the energy to move.

There was a clatter at her door. Damn what was housekeeping coming in for? Surely the room would have been checked over this morning.

“No thank you,” Em called out. She could only hope they’d heard since the words came out in a pathetic croak. It must have worked though, because she heard the door click closed in the lounge area and everything fell silent again.

She closed her eyes and willed herself to sleep. Anything to escape the suffocating pain that kept ebbing and flowing in waves that threatened to drown her.

It didn’t work, of course, and she suddenly had an itchy feeling like she was being watched.

Her eyes fluttered open, and a yelping gasp was torn from her lips at the three shadowy figures that stood on each side of the bed.

Her heart rate settled when she realized it was Xander, Kyros and Coll... then sped up again for exactly the same reason.

She looked from Coll on her left, to Ky on her right, to Xander at the foot of the bed, surrounding her.

“Wh-what are you doing here?” Em stammered, pushing into a sitting position, and scrambling back toward the headboard.

“We’ve come to take you home, pet,” Coll said gruffly.

“But you sent me away; you fired me,” Emalee managed, tears still choking her throat.

“No baby, we never sent you away,” Kyros denied, sitting on the bed next to her and holding out his hand, but he dropped it, his face dropped into a mask of misery when she scurried away from him.

“It was a mistake sweetheart,” Xander said softly, kneeling on the end of the bed. “None of us knew Selene had said you were fired. When we asked you to do as she asked, we were just talking about keeping your distance from Kira, so Ky could settle things without giving Selene any extra ammunition.”

“I’m not fired?” she asked in a small voice, looking from one to the other for confirmation, in case her ears were playing tricks on her.

Xander shook his head and crawled towards her, his blue eyes intense. “You’re mine, Emalee,” he growled as his gaze pinned her down.

“Mine,” Coll agreed, roughly, sitting down next to her and taking her hand.

“And mine,” Kyros added, leaning towards her, and tentatively stroking her cheek.

“Ours,” the three of them said together.

“And the only place you’re going is back home with us.

“We love you, Emalee. All three of us. We have for a long time,” Xander told her, seriously,

“You’re the glue that holds our family together, and when I say family, I mean the entire household,” Coll added.

“But we all agreed that we would never jeopardize the status quo or try to win your affection away from each other,” Kyros admitted.

“But if you can handle all three of us, then that’s an entirely different matter,” Xander finished.

“Will you be ours, Emalee? All of ours?”

She looked from one to the other, read their earnest expressions, and her heart overflowed with the love she felt for them all.

“Yes,” she whispered, pulling them in for a group hug, “Because I feel the same way, and I never could choose between you.”

Chapter Fourteen

AS IT TURNED OUT, getting home took a while, since all three of them seemed determined to show her exactly how much she meant to them, in no uncertain terms.

“Where are the children?” Em finally asked, hours later, when she’d been very thoroughly loved.

“We dropped the twins and Kira with my mom,” Xander replied. “She was more than happy to step in when we told her we were on a mission to get you back. And Nicky is still with Coll’s parents.”
