My brows scrunched together. “How in the fuck did you get my number?”

Samson gave me a bored look.

“Do all of you have it?”

“Start driving, Keegan.” Out of all four of the kings, he was the only one to call me by my name. I didn’t know if that was a good or bad thing yet.

“You got the mystery thing going for you,” I said sarcastically.

“I could say the same thing about you.”

Me, mysterious?I could laugh. I was as simple as they came. A poor girl pining for her mother’s affection and stealing shit to pay back a debt that wasn’t hers.Yeah, simple.

I tossedmy arms up and laid my head down. I swore there was smoke coming out of my ears. There was no way I could take it anymore. “My head hurts.”

“We’ve only gone over the basics.”

He was a cruel son of a bitch. I bit my lips, keeping my comments to myself as I turned my head to look at Samson. He really was beautiful. His cheekbones and jawline were defined, and his eye color popped, drawing your gaze to it. His nose was perfectly straight.

“Were you made in a lab?”

Samson looked up from the textbook, and I was hit full force with his beauty. It’s honestly not fair.

“Sammy.” A cheerful woman’s voice carried throughout the room as she bustled in. She stopped short as her gaze landed on me.

I took it all back. If Samson was beautiful, his mother was a goddess. Her skin was flawless, although I knew she had to be older than forty. Her blonde hair looked like spun gold. The only difference between the two was her beauty was far more feminine. The camera did not do her justice. She was far more stunning.

“Who do we have here?” Miranda moved further into the room and stopped next to Samson.

She had that same fake smile on her face. She grabbed Samson’s chin and tilted her head. She said nothing to him, but Samson’s lips turned up in a smile.

“Better.” She released him, and her unwavering gaze dropped to me.

I instantly sat up straighter.I see where Samson gets that stare from.

“I hope you’re not dreaming of dating my son.”

My mouth dropped open. “What?” I looked at Samson and then at her. “Hell no.”

Her brows lowered, but her smile never wavered. “Are you saying he isn’t worth your time?” She took a step closer. “Or you’re too good for him?”

“Neither?” What the hell had I gotten myself into? She was grinning at me but exuding hostility. Any answer I gave would be the wrong one. I looked at Samson wordlessly, begging him to do something.

“Mother, that is enough. Keegan is here to be tutored.”

“Oh great, she is stupid as well as plain.” She kissed him on the cheek. “Oh, wow, wonderful, you’re giving back. It’s always good to look after those in need,” she cheerfully.

Fuck. She was insulting me left and right. “Hey, I didn’t ask—”

“I have a photo shoot and interviews to attend. I’ll be gone for a couple of weeks.” Miranda tucked a strand of Samson’s hair up before turning and leaving, no longer acknowledging my existence.

“What the hell?” I glared at Samson with that stupid fake smile back on his face.

“Don’t think too hard about it, Corpse,” Hawke said.

I twisted around only to see Hawke shirtless coming down a pair of hidden stairs. His hair was a mess, and he looked good enough to eat.

“Kind of hard when she called me stupid and ugly.” I wished she’d return so I could give her a piece of my mind. “They say never meet your celebrity crushes. Fuck, now I’m angry I spent any time daydreaming about her.”
