Too bad. If he’d known at least something, he might have gotten away with just a few broken fingers. Mac’s smile vanished as he stared down at his phone.

Blood splattered on the tarp, and Hawke sighed. “This isn’t fun if the mess gets cleaned up so fast.”

I laughed and kicked Frances in the stomach. I wished I had brought my bat with me. I preferred a fight where I could go toe to toe with someone, but a guy like Frances didn’t deserve a fair fight. He needed an ass beating.

“No killing,” Lux said.

“Yet,” Mac added.

The pres was more bloodthirsty than he let on. If he kept up, Lux might just bring him in to be a king, not that Mac had ever asked. He’d made it known he didn’t want the social status he preferred to be where he was.

I didn’t blame him if I wasn’t who I was. I’d like nothing more than to be left out of shit, but chaos was my bitch, and we got down and dirty often.

“Looks like you get to live another day.” I lifted my booted foot and brought it down on Frances’s crotch. He squealed like a pig. “As long as you’re breathing and your heart is beating, that’s good enough. He didn’t say we couldn’t break you.”

Ringing pierced the air.

“Need to get that?” Luxious asked. He took a sip from his drink, looking bored with life.

One look from Mac and my stomach twisted with unease. Why do I have a bad feeling?

“Who is it?” I asked.

The room went silent as Mac didn’t answer. He wasn’t one to ruffle any feathers. There was a reason we’d kept him so close. Luxious said he knew how to follow orders. Above all, he had the potential to be a worthy puppet.

“Mac?” Luxious asked.

“It’s Keegan,” he finally said.

Hawke was up and snatched the phone from Mac’s hands before he could think better of it.

“Hey!” Mac attempted to reach for his phone, but that was a losing battle, especially against Hawke.

Hawke ignored him as he answered the phone. “Hey, Corpse, about the video, don’t worry. We are—”

Anger flashed over Hawke’s face, and his smile was gone. A shiver raked down my spine, and I was up along with the others. Hawke rarely ever got angry or showed it. The guy was just too insane to do anything but smile.

“Where are you?” he gritted out.

Lux was across the room in Mac’s face in the next second. “Where is she?”

Mac looked just as concerned. “I have no idea.”

I grabbed the phone from Hawke as Samson moved to hold the nutball back. “Hey, Keegan, I need you to—”

“Please.” The pleading was so unlike her. My chest constricted, and I met Lux’s gaze.

“What’s the matter?” I pulled the phone away and put her on speaker.

“Don’t… I...”

The sound of her puking echoed around us, and my worry only grew.

“Keegan,” Luxious said, gripping the phone.

I heard the screen creak as it tried to withstand his hold.

“Lux?” Keegan’s voice sounded so small and weak, two things she was not.

I saw it in all three of my best friends’ eyes. We didn’t like her sounding that way. We could torture her, could even hurt her, but someone else? No, that wasn’t happening.

Keegan’s breathing was ragged.

“Have you fucking tracked her yet?” Lux sounded frantic.

I couldn’t blame him. Hawke had called it. Keegan was ours. And although I wasn’t sure what that meant for our future, I knew she’d be a part of it.

“Hel… Please… Help,” Keegan cried out.
