“It’s for the best.”

“How about an encore? Just once? I’ve got to go back to Notre Dame soon, so you don’t have to worry that I’ll be around stalking you or anything.”

You’re not going to want an encore after what goes down tonight,is what I want to say.

“No. We’re done.”

Standing up, she grabs the lapels of my sports jacket and presses her body into mine. “But why should the fun stop? You’re a good Dom, I’m a good sub. And you like me. You know how I can tell?”

She grabs my crotch. My cock stirs closer to her grasp.

“I think you should let the dragon play again,” she says.

Firmly, I push her away. “That’s enough.”

“If you want, I’m open to other stuff. If you like your comrade so much, I’ll even—”

“No!” I growl. “You got your fantasy. The end.”

She narrows her eyes at me. “What are you afraid of?”

I don’t answer her. The truth is, I’m afraid she might not live to see tomorrow.

Chapter twenty-seven

Casey

Whenhedoesn’tanswermy question, I try to prompt him. “You’re not afraid of having too much fun, are you?”

He scowls. “Grow up. There’s more to life than fun.”

“Like what? Making more money? Because it’s not enough that you have a big ass house, own a gorgeous cabin in Tahoe, and drive a Bugatti? Oh wait, it’s about honor. But is it? Or is it more about flexing?”

His features darken. “A hedonistic princess who hasn’t worked a day in her life wouldn’t understand. You don’t know anything.”

I bridge the distance between us again. “I know we’re good together. I know we have chemistry. I don’t see why we can’t have a little more fun together.”

I reach for his crotch, but he stops my hand.

“What are you so afraid of?” I ask. “That I’m gonna develop feelings for you? Trust me, I’m not looking for a relationship.”

He looks unhappy, tense.

“Or are you worried about your own feelings?” I tease.

“You have no clue what you’re talking about. Now get the fuck dressed.”

Everything about his tone suggests that I should just shut up and do as he says, but I feel like I’m on to something. There’s something between us, something beyond physical attraction even. I’m not willing to give up on that.

“Not until you tell me what your problem is,” I declare.

“You’re the one with the problem.”

“Because I wasn’t born into poverty like you? I get that already. But you already knew that, so why did you decide to hook up with me anyway?”

He frowns. He doesn’t like my question. I use my free hand to play with a button on his shirt.

“You can admit that you like me,” I tell him. “What’s the big deal? I like you.”
