“But you’re not a picky eater.”

He raised his eyebrows. “How did you know I was referring to me?”

“I’ve never met a guy,” I said while leaning casually against the table, “who talked that much about his cock without any intention of delivering it.”

“It sounds like you have me all figured out.”

I beamed. “Why wouldn’t I? You make it so easy.”

“I’m glad you’ve picked up on that.”

“Now you’re just being silly.”

He winked. “Is it working?”

“On me?”

“Yeah, who else would it be for?”

I gestured around the tavern. Plenty of hot women were seated all over the place. It was a buffet of babes. Why he was wasting any time hitting on me was almost absurd.

And yet, I wasn’t complaining either. “Take your pick.”

“Of the bar? Really?” He hummed while nesting his chin into his palm.

When he pointed to a blonde woman seated at the bar, I rolled my eyes and said, “Wow, typical.”

“You said topick one. You didn’t say I had to explain my choices.”

“Not much to explain there.”

He cackled and then waved his arm wide, including the rowdy biker wolves nearby. “What about you?”

My curious grin turned mischievous. “You sure you won’t get jealous?”

“Like you didn’t?”

“That didn’t happen.”

But the way he fixed me with that knowing grin made me burn with irritation—and desire. I was struggling to shake my weird feelings while also entertaining them. That was just ridiculous. Why would a guy like Adam inspire any jealousy when he wasn’t even mine?

Because I want him to be mine.

I blinked away the thought before it could turn into a wicked wind that threatened to wipe me off the top of a cliff. If I stepped any closer to considering Adam as anything more than a hookup, I would risk my safety, my security, mylife.

“Whatever you say, cherry,” he teased. “So, anyone catch your eye?”

Yes, absolutely. If this man was able to read my mind, I would be in such big trouble. Thankfully, he was just a silly little wolf with a silly little smile.

And more muscles to spare than Hercules.

“Sure, how about that one?” I joked while nodding toward the biggest wolf seated at the biker table. “All that strength could do me good.”

“Hey, I’m strong enough!”

I wrinkled my nose and tapped the table. “Strong enough to sit by yourself.”

“Is it a crime for a man to want to enjoy a meal by himself?”
