Valan sat next to me, kicking his feet out. “You still up to be my accountability partner?”

“Hmm?” I asked, only partially paying attention as I saw the president of the club riding through the gate.

Many would call him a silver fox. He reminded me of a tattooed Henry Cavill in The Witcher series. So delicious I couldn’t stop staring.

“Charlotte?”

“Yeah, Valan?”

I still didn’t turn my head away from Mack. Just because he wasn’t my type didn’t mean I couldn’t appreciate that hunk of big, muscled man.

Valan made a noise in his throat, mumbling under his breath. “I’ll talk to you later, Charlotte.”

“Okay.”

Beckett laughed. “Valan sure is pissy.”

“Why?” I asked, finally looking away.

Beckett snickered. “Nothin’, honey. You do what you want.”

“I always do.”

“That’s why I like you. No bullshit.”

He lifted his beer, and I clinked my wine cooler against his bottle.

“Cheers. Here’s to doing whatever the fuck we want.”

Chapter 3 Charlotte

After my rotten afternoonat work, I needed a bath, wine, pizza, and a good book to take my mind off everything. All I wanted was a few minutes of quiet and solitude. Life as a single mother meant I rarely had the opportunity to indulge until after Sophie was in bed. My little girl was full of energy and while I loved it, I also had days where it stretched my patience and nerves far too thin. This was one of them.

Arriving at the Ravagers clubhouse, I parked my car in the lot, heading inside as I pushed my shades up over my forehead. The bar was full as I scanned the area, searching for Rae. I found her rubbing her belly, stuffing cubes of cheese, olives, and crackers into her mouth.

Smirking, I sank next to her on a barstool, ticking my head at her snack. “Baby hungry?”
