“I can’t get enough,” she complained, popping another olive in her mouth, chewing before she gulped down a glass of apple juice. “It’s ridiculous.”
A giggle escaped my mouth. “I remember those days. The bigger he grows inside you, the more nourishment your son needs.”
“Ugh. Don’t say that. I’ll be as big as a house.”
“You won’t,” I promised. “Can I ask for a favor?”
“Sure. What’s up?”
“I had a super shit day at work and I could use a quiet evening. You think the girls could have a sleepover at your place?”
“Of course! Leah will be so excited. She loves it when Sophie stays over.”
“It won’t be too much?” I asked, gesturing to her belly.
“Nah. The girls are easy. They’re never a problem.”
Good. “And Edge? He won’t mind?”
“Nope. We’ll let them have the treehouse. It’s warm enough. He won’t care. Anything for Leah, he’s a pushover.”
“And you,” I added with a smile.
“Yeah. He totally spoils me.” She placed cheese on a cracker, taking a big bite.
“Thank you. I really appreciate it.”
“No worries,” she promised as she finished her food. “I’ll be asking you to watch Leah when I have this baby.”
“And I’ll be happy to do it.”
“Good. One less worry,” she sighed, frowning as she gripped her stomach.
“You okay?”
“I think so. These Braxton Hicks contractions are no joke. So uncomfortable.”
“Oh yeah,” I agreed. “Need anything?”
“Just Edge. I want my back rubbed.”
She winked as she slid from the stool, heading toward one of the billiard tables across the room. Edge noticed her long before she reached his side, placing the pool stick against the wall before he scooped her up in his arms, kissing her in front of everyone. The V.P. of the Ravage Riders didn’t hold back when it came to his woman.
A part of me was envious of their connection. I’d never seen two people so in love other than my sister and R.J. Both men adored and protected their women fiercely.
Why couldn’t I find a guy like that?
Since both Rae and Cara became pregnant, those bikers had gotten overprotective and bossy, which amused most of their brothers. I secretly thought it was sweet. I wouldn’t mind a hot biker going alpha male over me.
“Hey, sis,” Cara greeted, joining me at the bar. “How was school today?”
I gave her a disgusted look. “Not well.”
“Aw. What happened? I thought your kids were well behaved.”
“Oh, they are. It’s the staff I have problems with.”
“Not Principal Thomas again?”
