A single voice pulled me from my thoughts, crashing them into reality with a sudden, heartbreaking force.

Someone I didn’t expect to see today.

“Charlotte.”

“Shit,” I whispered, so low I didn’t think a soul heard me.

How the hell didheend up here? Where had he been?

The guy in the next cell stole my breath, causing my vision to tunnel, and my chest to deflate.

A pair of familiar hazel eyes stared back at me, crinkling in the corners with a mixture of amusement and pleasure.

The patch on his leather vest read Breaker.

There he was, staring straight into my eyes with the same wicked smile.

The biker who fathered Sophie.

The guy I thought I’d never see again after he disappeared from Providence. The man who broke my heart.

Owen.

Chapter 4 Charlotte

“Charlotte Granger.Holy shit, baby. How you been?”

I didn’t know why but the first thing that popped into my head when he said my name was that he knew my last name and could have tried to find me anytime he wanted. He obviously never did. I didn’t mean more to him than some bitch to wet his cock. I should have known.

Anger surged to the surface, and I flipped my hair over my shoulder, approaching the bars as my chin lifted and I leveled with him with a hard stare. “I’m not your baby.”

A chuckle left his lips as he sat back against the wall, one arm draping over his knee while he scanned me from head to toe. “Just as pretty and feisty as I remember.”

“I’m surprised that you do,” I quipped, “since I never heard from you afterward.”

He shrugged. “Shit came up with the club, baby. I had to leave unexpectedly. Sure did miss seein’ you again, though.” His grin widened. “You rocked my fuckin’ world that night.”
