David nodded and took a sip of his drink. “Then I think I’ll order an appetizer.” He nodded to Luke, the bartender. “If I get bored, I’ll head over to your place and wait.”

Emily nodded and hurried to the computer to print the bill for one of her tables, glancing at David as she did so. He was a handsome man. And his kindness made him even better looking.

At last, her final table left and Emily was able to clean up and get ready to go home. David had left a half-hour earlier, whispering in her ear before he left that he was looking forward to spending time with her.

As she stood in the break room, untying her apron, Geoffrey walked in. “David’s at your condo?”

Emily nodded. “He left a little while ago.”

“Good. Keep him happy.”

“I’ll do my best.”

Emily unlockedher condo door and heard music1coming from the living room. She walked inside, locking the door behind her. David had turned on the stereo and lay on the couch with his eyes closed, legs crossed at the ankle, hands behind his head, and a hint of a smile playing on his lips. His tie and suit jacket lay over the back of the nearby easy chair and his shoes were on the floor next to the coffee table.

The music was a violin concerto. She wanted to close her eyes and immerse herself in the sound, but she had other priorities. “David?” she said, keeping her voice low so as not to startle him.

His green eyes opened and he gave her a lazy smile. “Hello, Emily.”

“I’m sorry I’m late.”

He sat up and waved his hand in the air. “No worries. I was enjoying the stereo system installed here. I’ve contemplated having one put in at my house, but never got around to it. I don’t relax there.” He smiled.

“That’s Sibelius, right?” She dropped her purse and keys on the side table near the door and glanced at the entertainment center. He had clearly spent a lot of time here if he knew about a sound system she didn’t.

David nodded, raising his brows. “You know classical music?”

She gave a small shrug. “It’s coming back to me from when I was younger.”

“Do you ever go to concerts?”

Emily hesitated. She didn’t want to talk about this subject. Why hadn’t she ignored the music? She used to have no problem doing so. But ever since she met Mark... “Sometimes.”

“To recognize a piece like this means you have some formal knowledge. Why don’t you go?”

She shrugged again and motioned toward her room. “Let me go take a quick shower.”

David nodded and lay back down on the couch.

Emily showered as quickly as she could, not washing her curls to save time. When she emerged from the bathroom, she found David sitting on the edge of her bed, wearing only his boxer briefs and looking at his phone. His trim upper body was a pleasure to look at.

She crawled behind him and rubbed his shoulders and kissed his neck.

“Mmm. That feels good.” David tilted his neck and smiled.

“Hard day?”

He grunted. “What day isn’t?”

“Anything especially bad about today?”

“No, not really. Just a long day.” He turned. “I suppose I was a bit impatient to see you tonight.”

Emily gave a shy smile, her cheeks warming. Why didn’t his wife care for him more? If she had a husband like him, she wouldn’t be wandering around town, looking for younger blood to play with.

Your job is not to consider his personal life, Emily. Your job is to please him in bed.
