And then my vision goes black.

Chapter 13

Shay

Beba,Maverick, andDamien, all hurt because of me. Maybe they should have left me and saved the others. Hugo would never have chased after us if they’d left me there.

It’s been a day since they rescued me. Levi came and tended to my wounds, gave me something to help me rest, and it knocked me completely out. When I woke up, not knowing if it was morning or night, Hunter was sitting beside my bed, my hand in his. His face was tired, his eyes drooping, and I knew without a doubt he hadn’t rested a bit.

I grip his hand, instantly catching his attention, and causing him to look up at me with a smile. A smile I missed terribly. “How are they?”

“Mav is healing. Levi took care of his wounds and gave him pain medication. He should heal quickly. Beba was in rough condition. She is still asleep. He wanted to take her to the hospital, but Tala fought him on it with her being an oracle and not knowing what could happen,” he tells me as he moves into the bed to lie beside me. I instantly roll into him, draping my leg over his and wrapping my arms around his chest.

“And Damien?” I whisper as I kiss his shirt-covered chest.

I feel it rise and fall as he takes a deep breath. But he says nothing. Placing my hands on his chest so I can push up to look him in the face, I see the tortured look in his eyes. “Tell me.” My voice is stronger this time, no longer a question, but a demand to know.

“He was in bad shape. Hugo shot him in the leg. We thought it was just a bullet, but it was laced with poison. One Levi wasn’t familiar with. He gave him all the antidotes he knew of hoping one of them would have worked, but he only got worse and he didn’t have any feeling in his legs. Levi hit the books all night determined to find the answer and after getting his blood tests back, we found they had poisoned him with a Botulinum toxin. Levi was finally able to give him the right antidote. He’s going to be okay. Sebastian is with him now,” his deep, soothing voice cracking slightly as he speaks.

“I need to go to him.” Looking down at my body, I see I’m still in the same clothes I was wearing when I was being held captive. “First, I need to shower and change.”

Slowly, I move my leg off of him as I push up into a sitting position. My head spins, causing me to feel nauseous. “Shay, you need to rest some more. You’ve been through a lot. Hell, we still don’t know everything they gave you. From what Mav said they were drugging y'all and having the two of you…” he stutters over his words and I know he doesn’t want to say the rest to upset me. What he doesn’t understand is I refuse to allow myself or Maverick to feel ashamed of what happened.

“Stop. Yes, they forced us to have sex. But it was with one of the five men I love, so I will never feel bad about it. None of you will feel as if we committed something horrendous. I know Maverick is already carrying a ton of guilt about it and if it’s the last thing I do, I’m going to cleanse him of it. Now help me to the bathroom to shower and change. I need to check on Damien.” Scooting towards the edge of the bed, I start to stand, but I’m instantly hit with a wave of dizziness and quickly fall backward.

“I got you.” He sits up, then crawls across the bed beside me, before standing up. Turning, he picks me up, cradling me in his arms against his chest as he heads to the bathroom. Sitting me on the toilet, he turns toward the shower and starts adjusting the water temperature for me as I remove my nightgown and toss it into the wastebasket.

Once he’s satisfied with the water, he begins to undress and I’m sucked in, watching every move he makes. The way his muscles flex when he moves certain ways, his tight ass that he could crack walnuts with, his long muscular legs, and then when he turns, a chorus of angels sing at the beauty of his monstrous cock, that’s already hard for me.

“Nuh uh, I see that look in your eyes, babe. As much as I want you to plaster your hands against the walls in that shower, as the water washes over your back and fuck you from behind, I’m not. We’re showering and getting you dressed so you can see Damien, then I’m sure it will be Beba and Maverick next.”

“Actually, can I stop and see them before I go to Damien?” Reaching out, he takes my hands in his, steadying me as I stand.

“Anything you want. Now let’s get you clean.”

Beba was asleep when I stopped by the room they had her in. Miles, Miguel, and Landry were standing at her side. Seeing her broken, bruised body lying on the bed broke my heart. Breathing became difficult knowing I was the reason she was in this condition. Fearing she would forever hate me.

“Stop, Shay. She’s not mad. What she wanted most was to know you were safe and out of the house before she fell asleep. Hell, she wouldn’t even let Levi look at her until she knew he had seen and treated you first,” Landry tells me from where he’s taken up the spot next to her. Guarding her to ensure nothing else hurts her.

“Thank you,” I mutter as I walk over to her, leaning down and whispering into her ear. “Thank you for being my best friend. My sister. I love you.”

Leaving her with the men who I know are her mates even though it hasn’t been confirmed, I head off to see Maverick, who's in the next room down.

He is just as bad, but awake. My heart breaks to see him battered and bruised. I stumble across the room to him, flinging myself down on the bed beside him, his grunts of discomfort reminding me of his injuries.

I stay with him for about a half hour, having to remind him over and over that what happened between us did not taint our relationship, until he finally dozes off from his pain medication.

Now I need to see Damien. My body is growing weary from all the movement and I know I need to rest, but I need to see my mate more. Reaching his door, I lift my hand and gently knock, hoping I’m not interrupting anything.

“Come in!” I hear called from inside the room, a voice I know distinctively as Sebastian. Gripping the handle, I hesitate for a moment, before slowly opening it and stepping inside the room.

Damien looks so pale as he lies in the bed, but the biggest ear-to-ear smile crosses his face when his eyes land on me. Sebastian is off the bed immediately and runs toward me, embracing me in his arms, and pulling me close to his chest. Leaning his head so his face is by my ear, his warm breath cascading across it as he speaks. “I’m so sorry for not coming to you sooner. Once I knew you were okay, I had to be here with Damien. I needed to know he was going to make it.”

Lifting my head to look into his warm, caring eyes, I respond with how my heart truly feels. “I wouldn’t want you to be anywhere but here with him, caring for him, watching over him when I couldn’t. He is our forever, a part of us that could never be replaced if lost.”

He stares at me as if he can see right through me before crushing his lips against mine in one of the gentlest, most passionate kisses I’ve ever had. His tongue dances along the seam of my lips before I open, allowing him to enter my waiting mouth.

Hunter clears his throat behind us, pulling us from our moment. “She needs to rest. Make sure she does. She’s been getting dizzy when she stands up, so watch for that.” He takes me from Sebastian’s arms, placing a chaste kiss on my lips, then turns and leaves the room, shutting the door behind him.
