“What did he say to that?”

I roll my eyes at her. I told her I live here, didn’t I? What does she think he said?

“He said he loved me too.”

Mellie squeals again. I can’t help a goofy grin crossing my face, even though I’m shaking my head at her.

“Then he told me I wasn’t leaving,” I admit with a giggle. Mellie laughs.

“Give them an inch, and they take a mile. How come you told him you needed to find a place?”

Sighing, I take a bite of my delicious pastry and tip my head to the side.

“We finally had ‘the talk’.”

Mellie’s eyebrows shoot up before she frowns in confusion. “What talk?”

I slide onto one of the stools beside her and blush. “The one about me not being a stripper anymore.”

“He finally found his words, huh?”

“Yeah, he finally found his words. They were pretty good words.”

“So, I suppose you’ll be chasing some waitressing shifts?” Mellie pulls out her phone when I nod. “I can get you sorted for the white shirt and black shorts. You’ve got tennis shoes, don’t you? Excellent.”

Mellie types something into her phone, scrolling through her calendar. “Did you want to start next week?”

I swallow at the thought of leaving the condo but sigh. It’s time I pulled my big girl panties up.

“Next week sounds perfect.”

RONAN

Liam pulls the SUV out of the parking lot at Oracle, heading toward the docks. Connor is busy back in the cottage where the online gambling operations are run. Seamus is off meeting with his Pa, so it’s us, with Paddy and Niall heading to oversee the weapons shipment delivery in the other SUV.

There will be a few other men lurking, given the issues we’ve been having with the Italian splinter cell, but nothing obvious. Hopefully, they won’t give us any trouble today.

“How’s Fi?” Liam asks. I glance over at him in surprise.

“She’s grand. Her hand and feet are fine now, so she’ll be back at Oracle soon.”

Liam blinks at me in surprise, his eyebrows hitting his shaggy fringe.

“She’s going to keep stripping when she’s living with you?” he chokes out.

“She’ll be waitressing,” I grunt. Liam does a double-take, fixing his eyes back on the road. But I can see him smirking.

“What?” I ask defensively. Liam shrugs.

“Did you finally tell her you didn’t want her stripping?”

My head whips around to glower at him. “How the feck did ye know that she wouldn’t give up stripping until I asked her to?”

“Uh, because Fiona is even more stubborn than you are,” Liam snorts while I continue glaring at him. “She would have seen asking for waitressing shifts before you showed your hand as caving. And Fiona doesn’t cave.”

I’m a big enough man to admit I hate that Liam could read Fiona so easily when I couldn’t. He must pick up on it because he quickly changes the topic. Though only slightly.

“If she goes back to work, is she looking for somewhere else to live?”
