“Yeah. We can shorten our route and use the remaining time to start looking at houses in the AV. I’ll have to see if Vanessa has anything with five bedrooms, or if we’re going to need to build.”

“Five bedrooms?” I furrowed my brow. It wasn’t like we needed a guest room since most of our friends and family lived in the AV.

“One for us. Maddox and Savannah will each need a room—they’re probably getting too old to share.”

“What are the other two for?” I asked. “An office?”

He shook his head, smiling. “Our future children.”

My heart softened. We’d talked about having more children in the past, but always in abstract terms. Now he was proposing marriage and talking about having babies, and my core heated with arousal. I wanted everything he’d described. Big family. A home.Him.

I smiled and grabbed his shirt and pulled him to me for a kiss. “Yeah?”

“Yeah.” He kissed me again, this time more deeply.

“When?” I asked, breathless both from his touch and what he was suggesting.

“Whenever you’re ready.” He rocked his hips against mine, and I gasped as pleasure sparked deep within me. “I can’t wait to see how sexy you’ll look pregnant with my child.” He ran his hands down my sides to my hips, over my ass, pulling me to him.

I moaned. “Tristan.”

“Is that a yes?” He teased the shell of my ear with his teeth.

“Yes,” I sighed. “Yes to everything.”

“Dad! Ellie!” Savannah yelled. “Dinner’s almost ready.”

“Be right there,” Tristan called, barely breaking the kiss. “Fuck,” he panted. “I need you, Elle.”

“Need you too.” I pressed my forehead to his, wishing we could skip dinner. Or at the very least, delay it.

“Come on,” Tristan said, stepping back and adjusting himself. He smoothed down the front of his shirt. “We should get down there.”

“Okay.” I took a deep breath, trying to steady myself. My heart was still racing, blood pumping so hard it was throbbing between my thighs. “Okay,” I said again.

He chuckled then headed for the stairs but not before pressing a chaste kiss to my forehead. “I’ll give you a minute.”

When I’d finally composed myself enough to go downstairs, I headed straight for the dining room and stopped short.

“Congratulations!” Savannah and Maddox cheered, tossing gold confetti into the air. The table was topped with flowers, and a champagne bottle was chilling on ice.

I glanced between them, mouth agape. “Wait. You guys knew about this?” I asked, holding up my left hand, the pearl glistening on my ring finger.

“Of course.” Savannah smirked, hand on hip. “We helped Dad pick the ring when we were in Australia.”

My jaw dropped. He’d been planning this since before we’d left Australia? “But you’re terrible at keeping secrets,” I said to Maddox.

He lifted a shoulder. “I’m six now.”

I laughed and opened my arms for him. “Come here.”

I shouldn’t have worried that the kids wouldn’t be happy about our engagement. They’d been in on this from the start. Even so, I wanted to make sure. “I guess this means you guys are okay with this?”

“Are you kidding?” Savannah asked. “I don’t know why he waited so long.” She hooked her thumb at Tristan, and we all laughed.

We talked about the ring, and the kids asked questions about the wedding. All the while, I was still wrapping my head around the fact that we were engaged.

Savannah’s tablet chimed, and she carried it over to us with a big grin. “Now, it’s official.”
