“Always a plus and a sign of fate to us,” Lily said.

“How is the new mom doing?” Poppy and Rose said, coming in. They had bags in their hands too.

“I’m doing well,” Lily said. “I got a little sleep last night but not much.”

“You should be sleeping now,” Jasmine said. “I’ll leave now that you’ve got more visitors.”

“Don’t go,” Poppy said. “You can gang up on Lily with us about her not doing any work for six weeks. And then getting someone to help her out.”

She looked at Lily and winked. “I’ll leave that for you two to deal with. I’ve got my own sister to get ready for.”

She left after that and drove to the flower shop, but decided to detour toward the marina first.

She’d stayed with Wesley the past Friday and Saturday night. Two weekends in a row now and they were making things work.

Monday they were both pretty busy, but she’d texted him last night to say Lily was in labor and then when Ryder was born.

Today was a miserable day out, just like yesterday was. She expected the marina wouldn’t be busy with people out on boats, but there were plenty of cars in the parking lots this morning already.

She went into the store, dashing through the rain with her hood up. It wasn’t pouring but a steady drizzle.

When she got into the store, she pushed her hood down. The girl working the counter was summer help and knew her by now. “He’s in his office,” Colleen said.

“Thanks,” she said, moving down the hall. She heard voices and realized she should have checked first to see if he was available or not, but then recognized Mona’s voice.

She knocked on the doorframe and they both turned. “Jasmine,” Mona said. “What a surprise. Come in.”

“I’m sorry to interrupt. I just came from the hospital and visiting Lily and the baby. I thought I’d run here quickly to see Wesley before I got to the shop. It’s such a miserable day out I didn’t think he’d be that busy.”

“I’m always busy,” he said. “Just not outside doing things. On days like this, I’m glad for that.”

“I’ll let you two talk,” Mona said. “I’ll catch up with you later.”

Mona left and Jasmine went over to give Wesley a kiss where he was sitting at his desk.

He pulled her closer and on his lap, his arms around her. “Whoa,” she said. “What is this?”

“I don’t know,” he said. “You came to see me so I got thinking you missed me.”

“I did,” she said. “Normally you aren’t this playful though.”

“I only seem to be this way around you,” he said. “Did you miss me?”

“I think I might have. My car just took me in this direction and I was going with it,” she said, giving him another kiss on the lips.

“If you don’t have plans tonight,” he said, “or aren’t working late, why don’t we have dinner at my place. You can stay.”

He was wiggling his eyebrows. “I could,” she said. “If you don’t think it’s too much.”

“That what is too much?” he asked.

“I was just there two days ago.”

“So,” he said.

She waited a second and realized that though it took them longer than normal to get to where they were spending the night together, it was nice they were moving faster now.

“When you put it that way,” she said, laughing. “I guess there is no reason to not do it. How about I pick up pizza on the way? I’m craving it like crazy for some reason. Maybe it’s the rain and colder weather. It makes me think of cooler weather food.”
