“I’m making a scene? I will show you what a scene is!” She looked up. “Help! Help! He’s kidnapping me!”

A group of old women who were standing near the entrance close to the special access lift turned to look at them.

“My wife likes to role play,” he drawled. “It’s our anniversary today.”

There were blushes from the older women. “Oh, happy anniversary, dears,” one of them said.

“No! He’s lying! I dumped him long ago and married someone else!”

Before she could add more, the lift door opened and he stepped inside.

“Put me down!”

But he didn’t. She kept struggling on his shoulder while the lift began moving up. And soon, it stopped at their floor where he stepped out. “Let me go!” she shouted.

She continued to wiggle and shout, but he walked through the corridor without stumbling. He stopped in front of their cabin suite and scanned a card before pushing the door open. A moment later, they were inside the cabin suite.

He didn’t let her down until he walked into the bedroom and dumped her on the soft bed.

She gasped and tried to get up, but he held her leg. She tried to kick him, but he held her still and removed her shoes. He removed both her shoes and yanked the bedding over her.

“Sleep,” he ordered.

“No! I’m not sleeping!” She tried to get up, but her body felt heavy and sluggish and the bed underneath felt soft and welcoming.

She shook her head to stop the room from spinning, but the room continued to spin. She closed her eyes. “I’m going to stay awake all night,” she murmured. “I’m not allowing you to boss over me. Who do you think you are… jerk.”

Her words came out like a slur and it got difficult to keep her eyes open.

Soon, she gave into the darkness which was oddly comforting.

CHAPTER 7

It was close to three a.m. but Aarav wasn’t the least bit sleepy.

He had finished making phone calls two hours ago to Rohan and Veer to discuss the updates. The rest of the calls with a few follow ups had also ended. There was nothing for him to do right then except to sleep. But he couldn’t fall asleep because he suffered from insomnia.

To control it, he needed a rigorous physical outlet until he fell into an exhausted sleep. He usually either had a hard session at the gym or spent a passionate night with a beautiful, willing woman. When neither option was available, he suffered through the torment.

His insomnia began when the visuals of war kept him awake like how it did to most war veterans. Death and destruction of not only his enemies, but also his own people, wasn’t something one got over easily.

But there was also another reason for his insomnia over the past seven years. And the reason was currently sleeping peacefully on the bed next to him.

He stared at Tara, especially her pouty mouth as soft snores escaped her lush lips.

Fuck.

He didn’t understand why he still desired her even after what she did to him. He should hate her and find her presence disgusting. But he still craved her like a damn addict.

No other woman had ever come close to what he felt towards her.

His eyes slid to her cleavage where a plump breast nearly popped out of its confinement in the shimmering green dress. She had a body of a goddess and a wild, stubborn spirit. It was a deadly combination he couldn’t resist in the past and even now.

Although she had claimed in the morning that she had changed over the last seven years, he knew she hadn’t. She tried to be a certain way with other people, but he was always able to witness her true spirit from up close.

Did she show her true self to Dheeraj too?

The thought of Tara with his best friend made him want to punch something. It was a raw wound that continued to fester over the last seven years.
