She slowly turned, and had to brace herself before seeing his face once again.

But despite bracing herself, the impact of seeing his handsome face from up close after seven years, hit her hard. She had to raise her head because she forgot how tall he was compared to Dheeraj. He was still strikingly handsome with thick, masculine eyebrows, high cheekbones, bold nose and a hard, angular jaw. The only soft feature on his face were his thick, dark eyelashes, which would have looked feminine had the rest of his face not been overtly masculine.

He was watching her.

Controlling her reactions, she lifted her chin slightly. “Sorry, I don’t have time to talk,” she said. “I have to get up early tomorrow morning.” She deliberately looked at her watch.

She expected him to be angry at her dismissal. But there was a strange glint in his eyes, and slowly his mouth twisted.

“That’s good to hear,” he said. “Because I want you to be at the helipad by seven. Don’t be late. I prefer to start on time.”

Her heart jerked in shock. “What?”

“Do let Dr. Pathak, the other passenger know as well,” he drawled.

Her heart thudded as she shook her head in denial. “No. This can’t be true. My assistant told me the pilot’s name is Captain Ravi Chandran.”

“That’s my copilot.”

“Then your name should have been mentioned too in the booking!” she nearly yelled.

“Why?” he drawled.

“Because… because…” she spluttered, not knowing how to answer that. “I want to cancel the booking. I’m going to take a midnight flight and a taxi to the cruise ship.”

His handsome face looked unfazed by her declaration. “You are welcome to take a taxi, but unfortunately last-minute cancellations cannot be made.”

“What! That’s… that’s…” She was once again lost for words.

His mouth twisted into another smile. “Have a good night,” he drawled before walking back into the party and leaving her utterly shocked and shaken.

Oh God.

She must be having a nightmare. Why else would the man she had been avoiding for seven years end up being the pilot who was going to fly her to the cruise?

CHAPTER 3

“So, how did the meeting with the client go?” Rohan’s voice asked on the phone speaker.

“And how big were the fireworks this time?” Veer joined.

Aarav’s mouth twisted as he unbuttoned his shirt, looking outside the hotel room window.

“She threatened to take a midnight flight and a taxi rather than fly with me in the morning.”

There were chuckles. Aarav knew his two friends were amused. He had spoken enough about her over the years for them to predict her reaction.

“What did you say?” Rohan asked.

“Told her she was welcome to do it, but her payment will not be refunded.”

There were more chuckles.

“Let’s hope Dr. Sitara Narayan doesn’t check our website to know our cancellation policy,” Veer said drily.

Their company guaranteed a full refund in case their clients couldn’t make it. The notice required was just twelve hours or sometimes it wasn’t even needed in cases of emergency.

“What if she forgoes the payment just to avoid you?” Rohan asked.
