Aarav’s mouth twisted knowing she was quite capable of it. “She won’t because of her co-passenger.”

There were more chuckles.

“Good luck, man,” Rohan said with a laugh. “Call us with the updates.”

The call ended, but Aarav continued to look outside the window.

Tara.

She was still fucking beautiful as ever. If anything, the years passing by had made her even more beautiful if it were possible. He hadn’t intended to speak to her that evening, but the sight of her was like a drug. One look, and he wanted a bigger hit.

It both amused him and pissed him off the way she tried to ignore him that night. It had taken every effort not to drag her into his arms and kiss the hell out of her to see if she tasted like betrayal or like his old Tara.

He could imagine the shock on her face had he done that.

She had already looked quite shocked seeing him that night.

Did she think she would never see me again?

She had tried damn hard for that to happen. Not only did she marry his best friend, she also ran away with her husband to another country and hid in a secret location, so he couldn’t chase her. She returned after two years, only to live in a different city.

Too fucking bad all of her efforts were wasted and she did run into him again. He had made sure of it with the job he had deliberately taken up.

His phone buzzed, thankfully distracting his thoughts. He looked at it, thinking it was Rohan or Veer calling him again, but it wasn’t.

A flicker of annoyance ran through him seeing the name of the caller. He wanted to ignore the call, but he knew the woman was persistent enough to knock on his hotel room uninvited.

“Yes, Mithali?” he asked, not hiding his impatience.

“Aarav, where are you?” the woman asked in a breathy, husky voice.

“I’m in my hotel room.”

“Can I come to…talk?” she asked seductively.

It was midnight. “I’m busy.”

“But I’m here for you,” she whined. “You have been ignoring me all night.”

He frowned in annoyance. “I didn’t ask you to come. I told you I was here for a job, but you invited yourself to the party.”

“But—”

He ended the call.

Mithali Kaur was an actress who had been pursuing him on the pretext of researching her role in a war movie. But he knew what she really wanted, especially when he found her naked and waiting for him in his last hotel room two months ago.

Ever since he and his two friends were hailed as war heroes by the national media, they were relentlessly pursued by women. His phone and pockets were filled with suggestive messages and love notes and even marriage proposals.

He did take up quite many offers made by beautiful, willing women. But unlike those times, he wasn’t in the mood to take up Mithali’s offer that night.

And the reason made him furious.

Tara.

In some twisted, fucked up way, his mind and body felt as though he would be cheating on Tara if he had sex with another woman in the same hotel as her.

Damn you.
