“It’s Philipp, not God,” I rebuke her. “Even if it was divine to fuck you—”

“Philipp!” she squeals, pressing her hand over my mouth. “Don’t say that!”

“You asked me,” I mumble against her fingers.

Celine sighs, taking them away. “It’s just, I’ve always thought of tattoos as…” She pauses, obviously searching for the right wording. “…repulsive.”

“Holy shit!” I laugh. “And you’re telling me this only now?”

“Jerk.” She punches me, but doesn’t sound pissed at me at all, but rather amused. Then she takes a breath. “Well, like I said, I always thought tattoos were awful. Until…”

What is this supposed to be? Does she want to take revenge now by overstretching her pause in speech into the painful?“Until…?” I ask and am literally run over by her.

Her body, which seems so light as a feather, squeezes the air out of my chest before she props herself up beside me with both hands and kisses me pertly on the tip of my nose. “Until I bumped into you in the lobby of the Chamber of Commerce and Industries and you spilled your coffee on yourself.”

“Yes?”

“Yes.”

“No.” I smirk.

“No?” Her voice peeks out her indignation. “Why don’t you believe me?”

I have to laugh. She’s so… sweet in her excitement.“It couldn’t have been in the lobby. I was still fully dressed then…”

“Oh you!” She growls softly, biting me gently on the neck. “In the staff kitchen, then…”

Although I can already guess what she’s mumbling, I play dumb. “What did you say?”

She straightens up. “In the staff kitchen, then,” she repeats, abundantly clear. “Although that doesn’t sound at all as romantic as if it had been in the lobby.”

“Mmm,” I mutter. “Too bad, really. Not even tattoo love at first sight when it’s otherwise taken such an awfully long time for Cupid’s arrow to strike you.”

“Well?” There’s her joy of quarrel again, which turns me on so much. “Do you have any idea how many times I fantasized about you kissing me in the car? Do you know how many weeks I have waited in vain for you to take the initiative? Are you trying to say it would have gone faster with you? If so, why didn’t you let me know?”

I sigh. “Because I… I don’t know. Probably because…” An idea occurs to me. “…nothing is sexier than when a woman takes the initiative.”

“Ah, so that’s how it is,” she remarks, and lets me kiss her profusely.

When we finally break away, she runs her fingertip along my left eyebrow.

“So, you like it when a woman takes initiative…” she says in a thoughtful tone.

What is she driving at?“Uh-huh,” I mutter deliberately vague.

“…then I’m sure you would have liked it if I had put my spontaneous idea into action!”

“What idea?” I grab her, rolling around with her, so we come to lie on our sides facing each other.

“Well…” Now she hesitates, as if her courage has left her. “I stood outside the tattoo parlor in Swan Alley a couple of times,” she claims, “to make an appointment there.”

Fuck!“Not for real, did you?”

“Not really.” Her little voice is very quiet. “But I’ve thought about it. Twice. Once.”

“That…”Damnit, how do I make her understand?“You can’t do that.”

She nods. “Yeah, I get it. Now that you and I are together… I can’t go to your competition.”
