“And you are the most reckless amongst us,” Aaryan snapped. “Luthra Inc.has grown and flourished over our parents’ dead bodies. Most of what Dev owns today belongs to us. You, me and Avi are the only ones standing in between him and his hold on Luthra Inc. If the world knows we are alive then he may just end up losing everything. He could hurt you to get you out of the way. It’s one person less in his path then. No, you’re not facing him and that’s final. Please don’t rebel on this.”

“I can look after myself, Aaryan.”

“And my answer is still no.” His twin was clearly ticked off. “You don’t decide to come out in the open. I don’t trust you to control yourself when you face him for the first time in twelve years. I won’t put our family at risk because of your foolishness.”

“I can take care of myself,” Vihaan repeated, annoyed by the lack of faith his brother had in him. “And I will ensure he never comes near any of you.”

“No,” Aaryan repeated firmly.

Vihaan took an irate step towards his twin, but Shaurya rose and put his hands on both their chests.

“Stop it, both of you,” Shaurya said. “Neither of you needs to come out in the open, not as long as I’m alive. Myra and I will face this. You all know we’ve faced worse. We’re equally committed to this family and you both know that. Besides, Dev won’t hurt us. It’s not us he’s after. He’s only using us to find you guys.”

Vihaan backed away, his hands clenching and unclenching. Fuck! He was tired just sitting on the sidelines and not doing anything to stop their enemy. He was tired of Shaurya being in the crosshairs of Dev. Shaurya was married now. He deserved to lead a good and happy life with his wife.

“Let’s return to the previous discussion on cement,” Shaurya said, trying to smoothen the friction between them.

A sudden thought struck Vihaan. “What about Jatin Sood’s cement company? He’s one of our biggest suppliers. Why can’t we ask him for more supplies? Or has Dev struck a deal with him already?”

Shaurya shook his head. “Not yet. And I spoke to Sood for ramping up our supplies, but he’s already overbooked and can commit to help us only an extra month as of now.”

“Then let’s buy his company. He wants to sell it, right?” Vihaan asked. At Shaurya’s nod, Vihaan added, “Let’s make ourselves untouchable.”

His brothers exchanged a glance, nodding.

“I know this makes the most sense, but investing in a cement company is not going to be easy.” Shaurya was the sound voice of reason always. “We have zero knowledge in that business.”

“Then we learn and we hire the best people to help us run it.”

“Hmm,” Aaryan rubbed his chin, “The idea has merit, and, looking into the future, it makes the most sense.”

"Why do you say that?” Vihaan asked.

“It’s too soon to say more,” Aaryan replied, “But I can foresee us getting busier with more construction projects.”

Shaurya nodded. “Which means buying a cement company is ideal. We do have the financial means to buy one.”

“Then let’s look at Jatin Sood’s company,” Aaryan said. “The question is, why would he sell to us.”

“Exactly,” Shaurya agreed. “Jatin Sood has an old Shimla connect to Pritam Luthra. If he didn’t know who we are then for sure Dev must have told him by now. That was why I never even considered him as an option. I’ve heard that he’s been meeting Dev regularly. Maybe he’s already considering selling to him.”

“Let’s find out if he’s sold to Dev or not,” Aaryan said. “If he hasn’t, then we try and buy him out.”

Aaryan checked his watch. “I have to go. I have a call with Al Jarami in ten minutes. I’ll take it in my home office. I’ll appraise him of the cement situation. He’s not going to be happy for sure.”

With a quick wave, Aaryan left to go to his own house.

“Till date, I haven’t been able to learn anything about Jatin Sood’s connection to the Luthras other than he knew Pritam Luthra at one time,” Vihaan said. “I’ve tried looking everywhere for information on him, but it’s all amounted to a big fat nothing.”

“Yes, I’ve gotten no information on that either,” Shaurya concurred.

“Then let’s find a way to get into his life and find out more,” Vihaan said.

“What? How? What did you have in mind?” Shaurya asked nervously. “Please tell me it’s not what I think you’re thinking.”

“Relax, brother,” Vihaan said, lightly. “You’ve got nothing to worry about.”

“Fuck!” Shaurya swore. “Now I’m even more worried.”
