“It’s not your fault, Elliott,” Noelle said.

“Then why do I feel like it is?” The lines deepened.

“Because you like to take the blame for too much.” Noelle’s hair slid over her shoulders. “This isn’t on you. I don’t blame you for anything. You’re my brother, and I love you. I always will.”

Hope flickered in his eyes as Elliott’s gaze darted to Brady.

Sighing, Brady said, “Man, you know I don’t blame you for a damn thing. You’ve had my back for years, and I will always have yours, too.”

“So…” The shadow slid from Elliott’s face. “For the record, Iamgonna be the best man at the wedding then? I haven’t lost my status?”

“You’ll be the best man,” Brady assured him.

“Good.” A relieved sag of his shoulders. “Because I’ve been planning the bachelor party for the last week, and I would have hated to turn that beast over to someone else.” He threw up a wave and headed for the door.

“The last week?” Noelle’s brows rose as she studied Brady. “But you haven’t even been in town for a week.”

The front door closed behind Elliott.

Brady’s hand slid under Noelle’s chin. “True, but I’ve been in love with you forever.”And Elliott knew it all along.

She crept closer to him. “Did you really decorate this place for me?”

In the interest of full disclosure, he told her, “A very skilled team of professionals decorated this place for you. I mostly supervised.”

Her hand slid into her bag. “It’s almost perfect.”

Almost? His head whipped toward the tree. “Is it leaning too much? Dammit, was Elliott right about that?”

Her warm laughter wrapped around him. “The tree is great. I meant that you forgot one important thing.”

He looked back at her and saw that she’d pulled something out of her purse.

“Mistletoe,” Noelle whispered. “I don’t see any in the room. Good thing I brought my own for us.” She lifted it up.

It needed to be up a little higher, so he took it from her fingers. Held it over their heads. Under the mistletoe with Noelle. No hiding. No pretending. “I love you.”

“I love you, too.”

He could feel the smile sliding across his face, and Brady didn’t know if he had ever been this happy before. But what he did know? The rest of our lives will be like this.

“Now go ahead and kiss me,” Noelle said, her voice husky and sensual, “because this Christmas, you are all I want.”

And he gave her just what she wanted. Brady kissed her.

The End
