And now, to do it with Eve.

I know she’s the one. And the sooner I get her out of this house and away from my father, annul the marriage the better. For all our sakes.

“And what the fuck isthis!” He snarls with renewed vigor, snatching up a blue envelope from a table, breaking my little nostalgic reverie. Cementing my plans though.

“A fucking prenup? You dared to write my wife aprenupand then try to have it signed without me… Knowing!?” He shrieks, starting to wheeze and grab at his chest.

“That’s correct.” I assure him calmly. Ignoring his dramatics, already figuring his new wife hasn’t signed the papers I did indeed have drafted up.

The wife. The new step mom I haven’t even set eyes on yet.

“I would’ve brought them myself but I had other business that day”. The vein in his temple starts to throb.

“Congrats on the wedding, by the way, sorry I missed it” I add, “If I’d known you were risking my half of the company through spontaneous nuptials I could’ve got an injunction…”

He opens his mouth to snarl again, but his face falls. His shoulders sag and shaking his head his watery gray eyes beg me to stop. He used to have the upper hand over me, literally. But we both know now it’s me who could crush him if I wanted. Physically, financially and worst of all for him, emotionally.

“Why are you doing this, Zeke?” He sighs, calling me by my name like mother used to. His voice full of emotions I never even knew he had. And unlike his phantom chest pains, I can see these emotions of his are real.

I hadn’t really noticed the physical change in him until just now. He’s old. Tired.

“All I want is for us all to be happy… A family again. Would you deny me that?” He asks me sincerely.

Almost to the point I could buy it.

But I know him better than that. If he has changed, it’ll take more than a sigh and an old man look to convince me.

I keep my thousand mile stare going, showing no emotion. Not even a hint as to what I’m thinking, which after a long silence brings out his true character as always.

“I saw the way you were looking at her.” He suddenly spits, sounding disgusted. My gut jolts. Knowing he’s right.

Looking smug for a second as he has his touché moment.

“You and Eve…” He growls, clenching his bony hands into fists as his eyes scan my perfectly proportioned, fit as fuck body.

The physique and lifestyle I’ve got he never enjoyed himself, making him wonder in a split second if a single moment of any of it all was worthwhile.

I blink slowly. My lids more like blinds drawing closed before opening again. My voice is stable. Strong.

Everything he’s not anymore.

“I don’t know what you mean.” I lie. Already feeling my pupils dilate, bleeding black into my already dark eyes at the mention of her name.

Wanting to strike it from his mouth as soon as he says it.

Already feeling an unpleasant itch in my gut as I wonder where she is right now, what she’s doing. Needing to see her again already. And needing to show her a proper welcome long before my father can fill her ears with lies about me.

If he hasn’t done it already.

“I saw you!” He exclaims, grinding his jaw. The words spewing out of his clenched mouth with complimentary spittle. “I’m not fucking blind, boy. And I know what makes you tick… You’re just like-”

But he stops himself.

Knowing that makingthatreference will earn him far more suffering than he has coming.

But I guess it being Christmas and all, I just can’t help myself. I’m actually enjoying watching the old bastard squirm for once.

“Like what… Orwho?” I challenge him, keeping my voice calm and even. Sounding like one of his shrinks.
