My eyes collide with Theo’s a beat before something rolls beneath the door.

The flashbang immediately lights up the room, stealing my vision and making my ears ring like a motherfucker. I don’t know anything else has happened until the gun is wrenched from my hand and a fist collides with my cheek.

My head snaps back as pain spreads across my face and shoots down my neck.

My body acts on instinct, fighting back against whoever is on me, and despite being practically fucking blind for longer than necessary, I manage to land a few solid punches, all the while praying our guys are about to spill through the door and help us out.

Even after my vision clears, I don’t get a good look at the man who’s trying to end me with his fist like his own life depends on it. I mean, to be fair, it does. The second I can get my hands on my gun, I’m going to blow his brain to kingdom fucking come.

“Motherfucking cunt,” is the first thing I hear when my hearing comes back to me before I watch Theo charge at the guy he’s been fighting with.

It takes a second, but I boom, “Stop,” when I see the tattoos that cover the hands raised in preparation for Theo’s strike.

Theo immediately follows orders, even if they do come from me, although he doesn’t avert his gaze from the hooded figure before him.

And to prove I’m right, no more punches are landed.

“You can take them off, cunts,” I scoff, lifting my hand to wipe the blood trickling from my split lip. “They’ve gone.”

I don’t know for sure that there were more than two of them when they entered, but my sixth sense says there were and that they’ve fled like fucking pussies.

Proving me right, both Matteo and Enzo rip off the masks covering their bloody and bruised faces, right as Alex, Toby and Seb come racing through the door.

“What the fuck is going on?” they bark, finding the four of us fighting for breath and covered in blood. Not that the four of them look that much better, to be fair.

“They’ve gone,” Toby confesses, holding my eyes and allowing me to see the regret within his.

“Motherfucker,” I bellow, slamming my already busted-up knuckles into the wall. “Where?” I shout, getting right up in Matteo’s face.

We knew that Ant and Enzo were firmly on our side with this fight, and we suspected that Matteo might also be, but Enzo never openly confirmed that.

It seems we might just have been right, though.

He shakes his head.

“No,” I bark, slamming my palms into his chest and making him back up. “There is more to this. Where have they gone?”

He swallows as Theo steps into my line of vision.

The second our eyes collide, the answer becomes more than obvious.

Daemon.

“Let’s go,” I demand, already spinning on my heels in preparation to run to where Theo abandoned his car.

Footsteps pound the dusty concrete floor behind me as I force my legs to move as fast as they’ll go.

My body screams in pain from Enzo’s attack as I fly down the long corridor lined with what used to be offices back in the day.

I spill out in the dark night, my eyes scanning the area and focusing on the spots that are flooded with light.

“Oh fuck,” I breathe.

“We weren’t out here having a fucking party,” Seb scoffs, coming to a stop beside me and surveying the chaos they left behind when they came for us.

Stefanos, Galen and the others that were out here waiting in case we needed backup are busy dragging bloody Italian bodies into a pile ready for our clean-up crew to sort out when they arrive.

“We’re a few down,” Stefanos says proudly.
