After swallowing, he rushed over to get a glass of water. “It tastes like I just licked all the crayons in a box. Urgh.”

“Hey, you bought that unicorn ice cream? Yes! Someone get me a spoon. You know the best time to eat it is when you first get it home and it’s partially melted.”

Keira spun around as Honey spoke. The other woman saw her at the same time and tensed up.

“It’s Keira’s ice cream, so you’ll have to ask her,” Webb told Honey.

Keira attempted a smile. “It’s for everyone. Help yourself.”

But Honey backed away from the ice cream as though it was diseased. “I just came in for some lunch.”

Having lost her appetite, Keira put the ice cream away. “I’ll see you soon,” she whispered to it before shutting the freezer door.

“It’s not sentient,” Zander told her.

“Shh, you’ll hurt its feelings, Daddy,” she said quietly, aware that Honey was still close by.

“How come you didn’t tell us Charlene was in town, Honey,” Webb said as she moved to the counter while Zander made them some lunch.

Honey frowned. “What are you talking about? Charlene’s not in town.”

Eli grunted. “That bitch is back?”

“Eli,” Honey scolded. “She’s not a bitch.”

“Yeah, she is. She treated Zander like trash. Tried to play us all off against each other. She even came onto Ammo and when he rejected her, she tried to turn Zander against him.”

“She did what?” Zander asked in a cold, deadly voice.

Eli grimaced. “Sorry, man. Didn’t mean to tell you like that. But it’s probably best you know if she’s back. All she does is play games with people’s feelings.”

“She does not!” Honey protested. “She isn’t like that. Charlene is sweet and kind. Don’t lie, Eli.”

Eli’s face was almost sad as he looked to Honey. “If she was a true friend, wouldn’t she have told you if she was back in town?”

Keira hated seeing the pain on Honey’s face. She knew what it was like to be fooled by people. It wasn’t fun. Honey glared over at her, then spun and stormed out.

“Well, that went well,” Webb muttered.

“Did she really do that? Come on to Ammo?” Zander asked.

“Yeah, she did,” Eli said.

“He never told me.”

“Thought you would believe her over me.”

Keira gasped as Ammo walked into the room. Shit, he was quiet.

“Never,” Zander said. “I’d never have taken her word over yours.”

Ammo nodded. “I should have told you.”

“You should have.” Then Zander shrugged. “But it doesn’t matter now. She’s nothing to me.” He set a plate of sandwiches in front of her, they were cut into the shape of mice.

“How did you do this?” she asked, delighted.

“Bought a sandwich cutter online.” He held up the metal mouse. “You like?”
