Drawing her closer, he ran his hand down her back and whispered in her ear. “That’s something I can’t do.”
“Why not?”
“Cause you and me, Little Thief, we’re meant to be together.”
“You believe in fate?”
“Not really. I believe in me and what I feel.”
She slumped against him. “You feel nice. I’m tired.”
“Then let’s go home.”
He stood with her in his arms and nodded to Webb who said goodbye to Lochlan. They walked out to the truck and he set her in the backseat, doing up her seatbelt.
“No, Daddy Z. No seatbelt.”
“Yes, you need a seatbelt,” he said firmly.
“It’s so uncomfortable.” She wiggled around on the seat, trying to slide her way out of the belt.
“Little girl, sit still. Right now.” He made his voice very firm and she huffed out a breath, folding her arms over her chest.
“Fine, Daddy Z.” Her lip drooped out in a pout.
He tapped her lip. “Put that away, baby girl. The seatbelt is there to keep you safe.”
She sighed. Long and loud. He shut the door and moved around to the other side. Only to find her already sitting on his side, giggling into her hand.
He raised his eyebrows as he slid her over. “Did I not tell you to leave the seatbelt on?”
“Ta-da! I’m magic. I got out of the belt all on my own.” She waved her hands up in the air.
“Good trick, Keira,” Webb said to her as he turned from where he sat in the driver’s seat.
“You can call me Kiki, Spidey-man.” She pointed at him. “I shall teach you my tricks if you’re good.”
“I look forward to it.”
“All right, enough tricks,” Zander said firmly. “It’s time to go home.”
“Oh no.”
“What’s oh no?” he asked as he belted her back in.
“I don’t want to go back there. It’s so boring. There’s nothing to do but watch television. There’s not even any books.”
“You like reading?”
“Uh-huh. I like Daddy Dom books and reverse harem books and BDSM books and Omegaverse books. My favorite author is CJ Bennett.”
“Is that so?” he mused.
She drew the belt away from her chest and stared down at it in disgust. “I hate this thing.”
“Leave it alone or I’m going to make Webb stop the truck.”
