Without overthinking it, I snap a selfie of me holding up a bite of the pear tart and send it off to Wyatt. He immediately texts me back, which makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. I like the idea of him waiting by his phone for me.

Wyatt: Every time I see you, I think you can’t possibly get more beautiful, but then you go and prove me wrong.

God,swoon.

Me: Thanks for my mid-afternoon snack. It’s so good! If this is day one, does that mean more gifts are coming my way?

Wyatt: Of course, beautiful. I never do anything half-way, and that is especially true when it comes to showing you how precious you are to me.

I meant it as a joke, but his response makes me almost giddy, as well as a little teary-eyed. He’s saying all the right things, which would normally be a red flag for me, but he’s showing me day by day through his actions that he means every word.

I’m not quite sure how to respond to him and all of his attention, so I go with something totally lame.

Me: Thanks, again. It made my day :)

Wyatt: Anything for you, beautiful. There’s so much more where that came from.

I smile again at his response and take a deep breath, trying to control the butterflies in my tummy so I can focus on my work.

True to his word,Wyatt has sent me gifts every single day, all following the theme of twelve days of Christmas. I know that technically the twelve days start on Christmas and go until January fifth, but I'm glad he's breaking the tradition. I wouldn't have wanted to wait two weeks for him to make his move. That thought alone should terrify me, but instead, it makes me grin like a fool.

So far, Wyatt has had some really creative gifts to fulfill each verse of the old song. He got me a beautiful charm bracelet with two dove pendants, a heart, and a Christmas tree fortwo turtle doves, though I protested and told him it was too much. He assured me I deserve so much more, in typical Wyatt fashion.

Day three was a bottle of lovely French perfume, with a note saying he didn’t think three French hens were an appropriate gift for the office.Four calling birdswere represented by a cute phone case, with a note saying cell phones are the calling birds of today.Five golden ringsended up being another treat from the bakery – a pineapple upside-down cake with five golden pineapple slices right on top. The note that day stole the air right out of my lungs. It might be too soon for an actual ring, but make no mistake, that is in store for you as well, my beautiful angel.

Day six,six geese a-laying, was a basket full of Cadbury eggs. The note explained that geese are mean, and chocolate is far better than actual goose eggs. I have no idea where he found Cadbury eggs during Christmas, but I suppose having endless amounts of money opens doors the rest of us peasants can’t even imagine.

Forseven swans a-swimming, I received a gift card to a spa. The note made me chuckle –My dear angel, I had no idea there were so many bird-themed gifts in this song. I couldn’t find seven swans, and I assumed there was some sort of limit on how many large birds you could keep in your apartment. So I went with the spirit of the gift – peace and tranquility.

Day eight –eight maids a-milking,was a venti peppermint mocha with extra whipped cream. I’m guessing he had some help from Casey to get my favorite drink order right. I was surprised when Wyatt himself hand-delivered the drink, though I really shouldn’t have been. He’s been over-the-top sweet and thoughtful to me from the very beginning. That being said, I hadn’t seen him since the night of our date. We’ve texted and talked on the phone, but that’s nothing like actually being in his powerful presence. He was somehow even more handsome than I remember, and his touch ignited a fire deep in my core that still hasn’t gone away, almost a full twenty-four hours later.

Today is day nine, nine ladies dancing.I have no idea what he has up his sleeve, but I’m more than excited to find out.

“Delivery for Ember,” Susan says flatly. My co-workers are getting a little annoyed at all of my gifts. Whatever, they can suck it. I’m in the middle of the most romantic gesture anyone has ever made in the history of the world, and nothing is going to take away from this.

“Thanks so much!” I reply in the cheeriest tone possible. This earns me an eye roll, which makes me smirk a bit.

This time, there is a rather large box with an elaborate bow on top. I suppress my squeal of excitement as I grab the box and head to my cubicle. I hold my breath as I untie the ribbon and open the lid. My mouth drops open at what I find inside.

I reach in and lift up the most beautiful gown I’ve ever seen. Standing up, I lift the dress out of the box completely so I can see all of it. The silky black dress is full-length, with a long, flowy skirt and intricate beadwork on the bodice and cap sleeves. Upon further inspection, I see a slit up the side that’s just shy of scandalous. There’s a pair of black heels in the box as well. Turning them over in my hands, I see they have red bottoms. I may not be able to afford Louboutin shoes, but I sure as heck know what they look like.

I reach for the note tucked into the side of the box, still absolutely stunned at this gift which surely costs more than I make in six months.

I don’t want nine ladies dancing. I just want one. You. Angel, do me the honor of going out with me again tonight. Wear the gown and shoes. Be ready for me at seven.

Yours,

Wyatt

He didn’t ask me out so much as told me we’re going out, but I don’t mind. I’m drawn to his confidence, especially when it’s about us. I had my doubts in the beginning, but Wyatt had enough faith for both of us. Now I’m ready to return his trust with some of my own. If he lets me, I want to give him my virginity tonight.

It’s that exciting thought that gets me through the rest of the day. I rush home as soon as I can to start preparing for tonight.

Scanning my reflection in the mirror, I have to admit I look good. Beautiful, even, like Wyatt keeps saying. There’s a knock at my door that makes me breathless with anticipation. I smile at myself in the mirror and blow a kiss, because why not? This is the way Wyatt makes me feel. Confident, fun, flirty, and totally safe to just be who I am.

“Ember…” Wyatt whispers once I open the door. He’s literally slack-jawed as his gaze sweeps up and down my body. I won’t lie, it makes my heart flutter. A sensation I feel mirrored deep in my core making my clit throb.
