It wasn’t as long as he wanted, but she started to squeal and tighten around him so he knew she was close and found he was slamming into her harder and faster.

Any control he had was gone, and when she shouted out his name, his body tensed and then released as he emptied everything he had into her, collapsing down in a heap.

They were both breathing heavily. “Are you okay?”

“I’m more than okay,” she said, laughing. “I’m wonderful.”

That was a relief. In more ways than one.

He rolled off of her and flopped on his back, then got off the bed to take care of the condom.

When he came back out, she had her bra and panties on. “Are you staying tonight?” he asked.

“No. I didn’t want to presume. I didn’t bring any clothes.”

“I wouldn’t have cared,” he said.

“Then I’ll know for next time,” she said simply. It was good enough for him.

Next Step

Almost two weeks later, Gillian pulled into Rick’s driveway on Thanksgiving. “Thank you for agreeing to meet my family today.”

“I should thank you for meeting my family later.”

She laughed. Things were going well between them. Better than well.

She’d been a nervous wreck the night of Ben’s birthday party knowing she was going to tell Rick she was ready to have sex. Little did she realize she was going to all but jump him.

When she was done, she’d have to say it was the best night of her life. She’d felt a liberation she never had before.

She and Mike had a decent sex life. Not horrible. Not early on. The longer they dated though, the less they had sex or did anything fun.

Routine and boring their life had turned into.

There had been a part of her that wasn’t sure she wanted to let go with Rick right away and then she realized she had no control anyway.

He seemed to like it and she decided she just had to be herself. No more trying to be someone else to keep the peace.

Life was too damn short to change who you were for someone else.

“I think it’s a good next step,” she said.

“I agree. The biggest problem I’m going to have is the food. I’ve been good for over a month now. But Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. The food, that is. There is no way this meets my dietary restrictions.”

“Rick. As I told you before, you can have cheat days. You don’t have to eat that healthy every day of the year. One bad day isn’t going to change your cholesterol. It took years of it building up to happen; it’s going to take time for it to go down. If you are so rigid, you miss out on things and then you give up. Eat what you want today. Please. I’m going to.”

“Then I will,” he said. “Don’t judge me though.” He laughed. “I thought we could walk to Whitney’s if you don’t mind, then walk back before we go to Robin’s. I won’t feel like such a slug then.”

“We can do that. How far is Robin’s house? Can we walk there after?” she asked. It’d get her exercise in for the day.

“It’s about a twenty-minute walk,” he said. “I’m bringing George with me there. Robin has two labs and George loves playing with them.”

“We can drive,” she said. “It was a thought.”

“It’s a nice day. I don’t mind walking. It will be dark when we come back, but it’s not like there is a lot of traffic and we are only going to Robin’s for dessert. I’m not bringing anything other than myself.”
