My cock hardens just at the thought. I close my eyes, imagining her naked before me. I run my hand down my body, before I stroke my visible excitement, slowly to start with. My lips tingle as I remember where they were only a couple of hours ago. My hand slides up and down my shaft a little faster as I picture Alana naked below me, screaming my name and begging for more. My hand starts working quicker, my grip becomes tighter. It doesn’t take long for my penis to swell in my hand, and my stomach tightens.

“Fuck!” I gasp, releasing into my hand as Alana’s name escapes my mouth as the pleasure takes over me. I rest my head back, panting hard. I pull myself together, giving myself a quick clean before I step out and wrap a towel around my body.

I open the bathroom door, and the second I do something is flying toward me. I duck just in time for it to miss my head. Bella stands there with her hands on her hips, her eyes are narrowed, and her face is flushed an unbecoming shade of red. “What the fuck, you psycho? You nearly hit me!” I yell at her.

Bella has had her moments, but this low is a first from her. “Who the fuck is Alana?” she hisses.

She clearly doesn’t remember, which doesn’t surprise me because she only thinks of herself. I decide to play dumb. “Uh? What are you talking about?”

She storms over to me, prodding my chest. “I am talking about the woman you were getting yourself off to in the fucking shower. Who is she?” she lifts her hand to slap me, but I grab her wrist before she manages to hit me.

“No one. You were hearing things.” I make sure to sound confident, hoping she will believe me.

“Do you think I am stupid? I know what I heard. Are you cheating on me with her? And be a real man and tell me the fucking truth!” Bella’s breathing is erratic due to her anger.

“No, I am not cheating on you,” I reply. I don’t classify a kiss as cheating, and she said with Alana, so technically I’m not lying.

“I don’t believe you, and I don’t care. Do what the fuck you want, Ezra, you always do.” She looks at me in disgust before walking away.

“I thought we were going out?” I call after her.

“Not in the mood. I am going home!” she shouts back. Even better because I didn’t want to go out anyway. I let her go. She will probably come back later.

I dry myself off, pull a pair of joggers on and stroll to the kitchen to make food. I don’t have much in it but find the ingredients to prepare a chicken salad. I will need to go to the grocery store. I could hire someone to do my shopping and cooking, but I prefer to do it myself since I don’t know what I want to buy until I get there.

I take a bottle of water from the fridge and sit at the table to eat. I stare at my phone, debating if I should contact Alana and apologise for my behaviour, but I will hang up if she asks for an explanation. Maybe I should start with a text, and if she replies, then I could call.

Hello. I just wanted to text you and apologize for how I spoke to you and for storming off. You didn’t deserve that x

I set it aside and start eating my dinner because if I don’t do something else, my eyes will be glued to my phone anxious to hear back from her. By the time I finish, there is still no word from her. I sigh, taking the empty dishes over to the sink to wash. I stare out of my back window into the yard. I get lost in my thoughts, thinking back to my childhood, never did I imagine I would be living somewhere like this. Back then I was too busy trying to survive.

The sound of my phone ringing pulls me out of my head. I dry my hands and rush over to check it, and I am surprised to see Alana’s name flashing on my screen. I quickly answer before she changes her mind and hangs up. “Hey, bright eyes,” I chirp, acting like everything is fine.

“Hi.” She sounds tired, like she has just woken up.

“Did I wake you?”

“Yes. So, do you want to tell me why you acted like a dickhead?” She sure likes to get straight to the point.

“No. But I owe you an apology. The way I reacted had nothing to do with you, I promise.” Alana becomes silent on the other end of the line. I give her a second to process what I said, but my need to hear her voice overrides me. “Alana, are you still there?”

“I’m still here. Why can you never just answer anything I ask you?” She doesn’t sound annoyed, more like she’s disappointed. I don’t know which is worse.

“Because we are strangers, Alana. I don’t share my life story with just anyone. If I did, I would have no one,” I reply honestly.

“Strangers? You weren’t saying that when you had your tongue down my throat.” Sarcasm drips from her voice. “And we all have a past and secrets, Ezra.” I hear a hint of sadness in her words.

Immediately I wonder what her story is and what secrets she has. “Yes, and I would rather keep mine to myself until I trust someone enough to tell them.” Which, so far, is no one. And it will probably continue that way.

“Same. But it doesn’t mean basic information needs to be a secret.” Alana is correct with what she is saying.

Neither of us say a word for the next few minutes, and neither of us wants to hang up.

Breaking the silence Alana asks, “What are you doing?”

“Nothing. I did have plans, but luckily for me they were cancelled. I didn’t want to go anyway. You?” I will not share any more information on the reason.

“I planned to sleep until tomorrow and try to forget about you.” She lets out a huff.
