She rolled her eyes, batting his hand away when he tried to help her up. Who walks around a festival oblivious like that? Standing slowly, she brushed herself off and snatched the wine glass from between his fingers.

“You really need to watch where you’re …” The words died on her lips instantly when she finally looked up at him. He washuge. Taller than anyone around them, that was for sure. His light amber eyes … almost coppery in the string lights hung above them … stared into her own, warm and restless as he took her all in.

His reddish-brown hair fell back in short waves over the top of his head and touched his ears. His long lashes fanned over sharp cheekbones, and his jaw was something taken right off a Grecian statue.

Goodgod,was he handsome.

The man shook his head at her, oblivious to the fact she was totally checking him out. “Let me buy you another one.”

“What?”

He nodded down to her empty glass. “Drink?”

Oh.

“Uh … sure.”

He gave her a blinding smile, one that would shame even the most famous of movie stars.

Reika blinked a few times, trying to come back to her senses before she offered to get down onto her knees right then and there. She put a hand to her cheek, feeling her flushed skin. She needed to chill out. Her being cooped up in her apartment was really starting to get to her.

She turned on her heel and led him to the booth that sold tickets and stood off to the side while her …companion… bought her another ticket. He slipped it between his pointer and middle finger and presented it to her.

“Here you go.”

She couldn’t help but clear her throat while taking it. “Thanks …”

He grinned again. “Of course.”

She could feel sweat starting to collect around her brow and quickly turned away from him to get to the wet bar. Sliding the ticket over the counter, she handed her wine glass over and pointed to the same wine she’d gotten before.

Distractedly, she could feel a hovering presence behind her and prayed it wasn’t the man she’d run into. But if the heat between her legs was any indication of how she felt about that possibility being true, then she was really screwed.

Not bothering to look behind her when she was given her glass, she headed through the crowd of people mingling around the bar to one of the picnic tables under another set of string lights. Sitting on one side of the bench, she sloshed back a quarter of her glass. The bitter taste was welcomed after what had just happened.

She tried to calm down, setting the glass on top of the table and taking in a few deep breaths. So what if she’d just run into the sexiest man she’d ever seen and embarrassed herself by falling in front of him? Even if it was his fault for making her do so in the first place.

Reika rolled her eyes at herself.Whatever, at least I don’t have to see him ever again. But just then, the picnic table’s bench bowed as another weight was added to it. She looked over, feeling her eyes widen, when the man sat across from her with his own full wine glass.

Her mouth dropped open.

“Hey,” he said. “Hope you don’t mind.”

“Uh …” was all she could muster.

He nodded at her wine. “Yours looked good, so I wanted to try some. Kinda dry, not gonna lie.”

She let out an incredulous laugh. “Well, yeah. It’s aged.”

“Aged?”

She squinted at him. “Are you not much of a wine drinker?”

He laughed, setting his glass down. “God, no.”

“Then why are you at a wine tasting?”

He looked around for a moment, taking in their surroundings. “Honestly, I don’t really know. It looked interesting after I saw you.”
