It’d be nice to have someone to cuddle with during times like these when the weather is scary and it’s lonely.

My thoughts immediately drift to Asher and then the fucked up shit that was last night.

It’s all a mind fuck, and right now it makes my head hurt to try to make sense of it all.

My phone buzzes from under my pillow and I pull it out to see Mason FaceTiming me.

I silence the call and shove my phone back under my pillow. I’m not in the mood to talk to anyone right now, even him. A pant of guilt runs through me because I never ignore his calls.

My phone buzzes again with another FaceTime call from him.

I ignore this one and the same thing happens. He’s not gonna stop until I answer.

With a deep breath I hit the accept button and make a face as it connects.

“Finally, what took so long to answer?” Mason says from inside his car.

“Can’t you see I’m in bed sleeping?”

“Well get up. I’m on my way to get you.”

“Ugh.” I groan. “Why?”

“Because I need some ice cream.”

“Well, call Asher or something. I’m tired and hungover.”

“Asher’s at work which means you’re up.”

I groan again. “The weather is shitty. Why are you even driving in it right now?”

“What are you, an old lady already? I’ll be there in five.” He ends the call.

Any minute he’ll be buzzing my door and if I try to get out of it he’ll barge his way in.

So with the least effort possible, I get ready. Which basically consists of smoothing out my frizzy hair and wrinkly clothes. I also chug some water and down a few ibuprofen.

Mason arrives exactly five minutes later and texts me to come down.

Madison: we’re leaving already?

Mason: yah I ain’t parking twice- I’ll come up after we get ice cream

I roll my eyes as I tuck my phone into my hoodie pocket. I slide on my clogs, grab my keys and wristlet, and head out.

“What’s the dire need for ice cream about?” I ask as soon as I slide into the car. I’m already drenched from the quick walk and regret not having a raincoat.

“Women.” Mason replies.

“Women?” I laugh. “You mean one woman in particular?”

“Nothing I do is ever good enough. It’s maddening.”

“Do you want my honest opinion?”

Mason nods.

“Sienna doesn’t know how good she’s got it. She’s a fool.”
