“A few times,” I respond honestly. “It smells like her. When I close my eyes, I can hear the two of you giggling or whispering your secrets. I can see how you would do each other’s hair and paint your nails.” And it fucking hurts. Recalling those memories but not seeing either girl was torture. “It’s been a couple of years since I’ve been in there, however.”

Turning the doorknob, the door floats open silently, and sunlight bursts through the opening, bathing Abilene in its caress. It’s a magnificent sight to behold. “It does still smell like her.” Her eyes close as she steps past the threshold. “It’s almost like walking into one of her big hugs.”

Stepping forward, I lean against the jamb, studying Abilene as she flits from one piece of furniture to the next. Gently touching items that haven’t been used in years. Whispering memories of the last time they were together and what they did.

Registering a sound at the end of the hallway, I notice Levan frozen in place, glaring at the open door. A thousand thoughts rush through his eyes before they go blank, and he storms forward. At first, I think he’s going to explode into a fit of rage, but he stops dead next to me when he hears Abilene speaking.

“Our last sleepover, she told me a secret. Made me promise never to tell a soul.” She’s earned our collective attention as her hand brushes across the wood of the makeup table in front of a window. “She knew I had a crush on Levan; I was never able to hide that from her, but then she would tease and say,I bet you love Zakar and Valerian too. I always shook her off because how could she know? Ironically, the last thing she said to me…it’s haunted me for years.”

“What’d she say?” I’m dying to know, and from his grip on the doorframe, I’m guessing Levan is too.

Abilene still hasn’t turned around. “She told me,wouldn’t it be magnificent if you married all three of them? She always knew far more than she should have.” Picking up a picture of the two of them, I watch her fingers trace the frame. “I had forgotten she said that until now.”

For the first time since his sister’s death, I watch as Levan walks into the room, wrapping his arms around Abilene from behind and burying his face in the side of her neck. “Levan.” Shocked that she recognized it was him and not me, I enter the room and cup her face in my hands.

“Yelena was always into everyone’s business.” I grin, trying to lighten the heavy mood.

“Yeah, she always was,” Levan murmurs as he lifts his head, kissing the top of Abi’s. “She used to say things to me that I never understood until after she was gone. Until we found you again. It’s like she knew that one day, this was where the four of us would wind up.”

“Fate.” Valerian’s voice wraps around the room. “Yelena recognized our fate before we even had a chance to get it straight, and I’ll forever owe my life to her for it.” Approaching, he leans down to kiss Abilene softly on the lips. “But we need to have a say in it as well.”

Lifting his hand, he holds up listening devices with now-broken wires.

“What the fuck are those?” Levan growls, his voice deadly.

“Found this at the front gate, too.” Pulling a camera out of his pocket, Val glares at the devices. “We’ve got us a spy.”

“Any idea how long they’ve been around?” I ask, feeling Abilene shaking between Levan and me. “No need to be frightened, mtsire,” I try to reassure, but her life has been tossed upside down so often that it’s tough for her to immediately believe me.

“Not yet, but I will find out.” The agitation in Val’s voice is contradictory to the way he leans down to kiss Abilene again. “You’re safe here, dzvirpasi. We won’t let a thing happen to you.” She acknowledges him, but we can all tell it doesn’t ease the fears overwhelming her.

Not yet. But one day, she will take us at our word for her safety and love.

Valerian

When I began my search of the property, I had expected to come across some vulnerabilities in our security, but I did not imagine finding listening devices in the kitchen, den, front entry, or Abilene’s room. That one must be very recent because nobody was in there until we brought Abi home.

The camera at the front gate was my biggest surprise because we had two there already. This one was nestled in with one of ours from the outside. They couldn’t capture the front of the house, but they could tell who was coming or going. Now I get the task of tracking down not only who but when someone decided to risk their life by planting bugs in our home.

I have my suspicions simply because of the one in Abilene’s room, and if the person is wise, they’ll run. I’ll still find them, but they’ll at least have a few days left on earth to contemplate whether this was a bright idea on their part.

“Has this happened before?” Abilene sits next to me on the couch in the den, fiddling with the tablet in her hand that I gave her to use while I perform my magic on the computer.

“No. Never.” I know she can sense the annoyance in my tone, and when I feel her slink away from me, I reach over to grip her bare thigh and pull her closer to me than she was before. “Don’t do that. Don’t put distance between us.” I don’t need to look up to know she thinks I’m pissed at her.

“You just seem like maybe you need time alone to figure this out.” Her words are hesitant, hushed, and I hear a thread of worry in them, which has me putting down the laptop and taking her iPad away to set next to it.

“Never in a million fucking years do I want time away from you.” Crowding into her space, I push her back on the couch so she has nowhere to escape from me. “You are my…our…sole focus. Your heart, your health, your pleasure, and your safety. They are what matters to each of us more than anything else in this universe, and this breach in security risks every single one of those. I won’t have it. None of us will.” Licking up the column of her throat as I grind my aching dick into her center, I want nothing more than to fuck her, but we’re waiting. In this moment, I can’t fucking remember what for. But we are.

“What about you guys? Who makes sure you’re all those things, as well, because I don’t think I can do it all.” Her voice grows breathless, and Levan is fucking right; it sounds damn good on her.

Gripping her throat just under her chin, I use my thumb to tilt her head up so I can look her in the eye. Those gorgeous globes of honey are filled with curiosity and a need to explore what’s between us, and I can’t decipher what she craves more. “You take care of our hearts and our pleasure, and we’ll take care of the rest.”

My gaze drops to her lips when she licks them and follows along the path of her tongue. “What if I want to take care of it all for all of you, too?” The idea should make me laugh, but I can tell this moment is pivotal for her.

“Dzvirpasi gogona,” I start, but she wets her lips, and her mouth opens slightly, allowing me entrance, so I take it. I’ll fucking take anything she gives me until she’s ready to entrust us with everything. There’s nothing I yearn for more than to explore her body until she’s crying my name from these succulent lips. Begging me for more. “We’ll take everything you’re willing to share, and when we believe you’re ready for more, we’re going to fucking take that too.” Fucking my tongue into her mouth, my hips grind into her untilI’msimultaneously fucking her, as well.
