I smile. “Bossy.”

I kiss her anyway.

This is all part of my new human vocabulary.Kiss. Caress. Fuck. She teaches me everything she knows about pleasure, and I’m her willing student.

Lips…nipples…clit.

I want to keep touching her all day—all year…

“Ugh,” she starts as she pulls away. “We have to go back to the real world, don’t we?”

“Just one last time…” I start, but she grabs my hand as I reach for her hip.

“We need to get an early start,” she argues.

“Then I’ll make it quick,” I smile.

I don’t think I’ve ever smiled so much in my life.

I grab her by the hips and pull her underneath me, kissing her hard. Frankie moans and slides her hands up the back of my neck, tangling her fingers in my hair. My cock finds her entrance moments later, then I push myself inside.

She’s still wet from last time—open, willing, begging. Her back arches and she throws her head back as I stare down at her, reveling in the way her heat grips and sucks on me.

This is fate—a cosmic connection that I was foolish to deny.

Frankie’s legs wrap around my hips and I thrust wildly inside her, losing myself in the relentless inferno of her body. I brace myself with one arm as I grasp her hips against me, squeezing my eyes shut as I spill myself inside her…

I want to stay—to mate, to connect, tobe. I find myself ready to go again, but Frankie extracts herself from my embrace and gets to her feet, stretching up to the ceiling in the dawn light as she steps out of the nest.

I sit up and watch her walk away, admiring every hard line of her muscled warrior’s body. Frankie rustles around in her small bag and pulls out some of her clothes—the loose green pants that she always wears, along with a skin-tight black tank top. She looks back at me as she steps into her pants, biting her lip as her eyes trail along my body.

“Trust that we haven’t even done half of the things I want to do with you,” she says.

I stand and join her, ignoring how my cock begs to be buried inside her once again. I slide my arm around her waist and pull her in for a kiss, the haze of lust still flooding my mind.

And as we kiss, I remember.

I remember why we’re here—why I joined this crew in the first place, the horror and destruction back on Logos.

And still, it feels like something is missing.

“We can wait,” I say. “You’re right; we have important business to contend with and a long way to travel.”

She puts her hand on my shoulder. “And I know it’s not at the top of your list, but…we have to talk to Taraven. I don’t want this to interfere with the mission.”

“Do you fear he’ll be angry?” I ask.

“I honestly…I don’t know,” she says. “If we were all human, I would know what to expect—but your species rarely does this at all, and his does it all the time, while mine gets…weird about stuff, I guess.”

“And if he were human, you would anticipate anger?”

“Taraven doesn’t seem much like the angry type,” she says. “We’ll have to see.”

??

Once we’ve gathered our meager packs and geared up with our weapons, we meet at our agreed upon rendezvous point in thecaltanbay. Taraven stands and talks with Jokahn and Driga, the three Skoropi infinitely expressive with their tails and bioluminescence. Taraven is relaxed, leaning back slightly on his tail with a glazed look in his eyes. I don’t think he got much sleep either.

“Greetings, my friends,” Jokahn says. His mouth curves in a wicked smile, and I’m certain he knows exactly what we were up to last night. Indeed, each of the Skoropi can probably scent our mingled signatures, given their heightened senses. “You finally deigned to join us, I see.”
