I let out a soft chuckle. “No.”

“Then you must be some kind of genetic anomaly. Because you always taste like sweetness.”

I press a kiss to his chest and then finally wrench my hands away. I sit up and reach over for some tissues, wiping myself up.

“Want to order dinner?” I ask.

He turns his head to look at me. “Actually, I was thinking we could head to my best friend’s house for dinner. He invited us yesterday. Would you like to do that?”

Suddenly, I feel nervous. I’m not really good with people. Numbers are more my forte. They don’t ask me personal questions or expect me to be charming.

“Is this the one that saw us naked?” I ask

“Yes, but it’s not like he hasn’t seen me nude before.”

I stare at him, and he must see the question in my eyes because he explains. “If you mustpryit out of me. We had sexual relations, William. But that ended ages ago, so don’t worry your pretty little head.”

What the hell, I think as my stomach clenches. I don’t like that at all.

Lex smirks a little. “Are you jealous?”

Of course I am, and I don’t even know why. I know Lex has had sex before me. I just can’t help buthateit.

“You are. But let me tell you…” Lex says, moving toward me and threading his fingers through my hair. “I have never been addicted to anyone like I am to you.”

My breath hitches and I meet his steady gaze.

“You have nothing to worry about.”

I nod and let him lead me into the bathroom where we take turns washing each other, and then dress to leave.

“Now a word about my best friend…” Lex begins as we make our way across town in his car.

“You mean, the one you fucked,” I interject, and Lex sighs.

“My god, when you do speak, you are so snarky. Yes, that one. We grew up together, okay? We fucked as a means to an end. It was nothing more. Now…back to what I was going to say. He’s different, so just roll with it. August usually reins him in, but there is a chance he’ll let him go off the rails, in which case, we just need to nod our heads and let him chug along into the distance.”

I bob my head, not quite sure what to make of all that.

“And his boyfriend, August, is very hot, as you well know. I’d appreciate it if you didn’t gape and ogle him in front of me. At least do it when I’m not looking.”

My eyebrows meet because what the fuck is he talking about? I’m not attracted to anyone but him. Doesn’t he know this? I haven’t told him, have I? I just assumed he knew.

“Lexington.”

He groans next to me, adjusting his pants in the process.

“Jesus, when you say my name like that.”

I huff out a laugh because he’s utterly ridiculous. “Lexington, I don’t see anyone else when you’re around.”

“Oh, fuck off.”

“I’m serious. Why do you think I’ve never…done anything with anyone before?”

His foot eases off the gas pedal and he quickly eyes me.

“I wasn’t interested in anything like that until I sawyou.”
