Page 29 of Always Him

He pushes away from me, running a hand over his lips.

“Are you rubbing my kiss away?” I ask, feeling offended.

“And what if I was?”

I let out a choked laugh and then poke at his chest. “Youwillkiss me back one day.”

“Not happening,” he says brusquely.

“I mean we already did it. My tongue was in your mouth.”

And his tongue stayed in his, but still. It counts.

He takes a step back and runs a shaky hand through his hair.

“We need to go. I bet your dad is blowing up our phones. We can talk about kissing later.”

I purse my lips and then peck him on the lips once more, just for good measure, before sliding into the passenger seat of his car. Finn stands outside for a moment staring at his feet before finally getting into the driver’s seat and starting the car.

He’s quiet, but he’s never been overly chatty, so I let it go, and when we park on the street outside my parents’ house and Finn shuts off the engine, I reach over and thread my fingers through his hair.

His eyes snap to mine and I smile softly at him.

“You’re so handsome. I just love looking at you.”

He sighs and brings my fingers to his lips, pressing a soft kiss to them.

“Alright, enough of that, Landon. We need to go. We’re already late.”

I tug on his ear a little and then let my hand slide down his neck.

“Okay. But you gotta carry me inside, Finn. Like a bride. I have one leg.”

He snorts, shaking his head, and then gets out. He rounds the car, throws my door open, picks me up, and slings me over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.

“Finn!” I cry out, his arm bracing against the back of my thighs as he moves to the trunk and pops it open.

“Put me down. This is not how you carry a bride. Unless you’re a caveman. Are you a caveman, Finn?”

He chuckles and I hear the bottles of wine clinking together again as he hefts the box into his free arm, and strides across the street toward the front door.

I pinch his butt, but just end up hurting my fingers because his ass is solid. I mean, like a rock.

“Damn you and your hard butt,” I mutter as Finn rings the doorbell with his elbow.

“I work hard for that ass,” he replies.

I slap at it as the door swings open and I hear my dad exclaim, “They’re here, everybody!”

Finn steps inside, me still hanging over his shoulder, the blood pooling in my head and making me a little dizzy.

But he doesn’t set me down.

No, he just stands in the living room, chatting with my dad about the cat tree he’s been adding to. And my dad ignores me, like his youngest son isn’t slung over Finn’s shoulder, losing consciousness.

I wiggle my body, trying to squirm down him, but Finn just holds onto me tighter.

Fine, this is war. I slide my hand down the back of his pants, my cold fingers on his bare ass making him twitch slightly.
