Nova rushed to the elevator pushing the down button several times, continuing to look around the roof but no one else was there.

I fucked up. This wasn’t part of the plan.Lottie thought. She waited for Nova to leave then slipped back on the sky lift, she needed to clear her head and decide what they next steps were.

Lottie woke up the next morning feeling awful. She hadn’t fed the previous night and was also feeling guilty about her time with Nova. Has she ruined the entire plan? Would Nova confess to Cain what had happened? Before she even got out of bed a text came through from a number she didn’t know.

Retreat classes canceled for today. Work through the material for day two. Will resume tomorrow at 8 AM. Apologies.

Lottie was shocked. She hadn’t seen this coming at all, but she was concerned for Nova. She noticed Vance wasn’t in his bed, or anywhere in the room that she could see. She pulled on jeans and a white t-shirt, slipping into her Hey Dude shoes and throwing her hair into a messy ponytail. She needed to find Nova and make sure she was okay.Had someone seen them on the roof last night?Impossible, she didn’t sense anyone anywhere close to them. Was Beau Bryant having Nova followed? Was Cain?

Before she could even leave her room, another text came through:

Nova: Hey

Lottie: Hey! Is everything okay? Are you alright?

Nova: Can you come to my suite please? We need to talk

Lottie: Of course. I’ll be right there

Lottie rushed out of her room, stabbing the elevator button. Her leg shook as she waited for the doors to open on the sixth floor. She looked over at the concierge and felt relieved it wasn’t Trelin. She didn’t know the man standing there but waved and went to the door of Nova’s suite. Knocking lightly, she waited for the door to open. When it did, she sucked in a breath. Cain smiled at her, then stepped aside to let her in.

“Good morning, Lottie. How are you?”

Lottie smiled at Cain, looking around for Nova.

“Come on in, Nova’s in the kitchen. Please join us for breakfast.”

Lottie didn’t know what to say or how to act but she walked down the short hallway into the expansive living/dining room.

“Good morning, Lottie!” Nova was dressed in short pajama shorts and a skinny strapped tank top with no br. She came around the kitchen island to kiss Lottie on her cheek.

“Sit down, please. Mimosa?”

Lottie’s eyebrows shot up, but she sat on one of the stools at the kitchen island. “Sure.”

She watched as Nova put frozen fruit in a glass then poured half a glass of champagne and topping it off with orange juice.

“Here ya’ go,” she handed Lottie the glass with a grin.

“Nova…” Lottie whispered. “Is everything okay?”

“Well,” Cain replied, walking into the kitchen, “That depends on you.”

“On me?” she asked, looking between the two. “What do I possibly have to do with this?”

Nova circled the island, sitting next to Lottie. She took her hand, smiling at her then Cain.

“I told Cain about us.”

Lottie sucked in a breath.

“It’s fine,” Cain said. “We talked all night. The deepest, most intimate conversation we’ve ever had. It brought us closer. We love and care for each other deeply…”

“That being said,” Nova continued. “I’d like to explore our relationship.”

Lottie would have been less shocked if Cain had shot her.
