“And, if you’re up for it, our relationship,” Cain smiled.

Lottie blinked, sitting between the two. She couldn’t have planned this better herself. Yes, she had considered it, but she hadn’t thought it would be this easy. She’d barely even alluded to this kind of relationship.

“Are um...are you both sure this is what you want?”

“Sure.” “Yes.” They answered at the same time.

“We should probably…um…discuss things.” Lottie was still in shock.

“Absolutely!” Nova replied.

“It’s why we canceled class today, but we told Beau that Nova wasn’t well. It’s happened before so he believed us.”

Lottie turned to Nova. “You can get sick? That’s curious, I’ve never seen that in all my undead years.”

Both Cain and Nova chuckled. “Not really. It’s a little trick we started years ago, and it’s been useful over the years.” Nova still held Lottie’s hand.

“Do you want to move into the living or on the balcony? Somewhere we can all get comfortable?”

Lottie smiled, cautiously. “Whatever you want.”

Nova looked at Cain and he nodded. Nova moved to the living room, snuggling down on the middle of the couch, she patted each cushion next to her. Lottie looked at Cain and he reached out a hand to escort her to the couch.

“I have to say, while I am fully into this, I’m shocked. It kind of came out of nowhere…”

Nova giggled. “We thought you would be taken aback but we also assumed this is what you were after.”

“Can I be honest?” Lottie asked.

“That’s the only way this will work,” Cain became serious.

“In the beginning I was interested in Nova alone but in the time, I spent with Cain, he’s quite…alluring.”

Cain beamed under the praise.

“So, Lottie, have you done this before?” Nova asked.

“I have actually. Is that a deal breaker?” she frowned her stomach clenching.

“Not at all! This is new to us so we’re looking at you for the…I guess…the rules?” Nova said.

Lottie smiled. “Well, that’s part of the fun. We make our own rules.”

Chapter Nine

Beau checked his watch for the fifth time in as many minutes. “Where is he? This isn’t like Cain. I’m extremely disappointed.” They had been kept waiting over thirty minutes. The server had stopped checking in with them after Beau glared at her the last time.

“I know, dear. I’ve text him but have yet to receive a response.” Concern was etched across Kathrine Bryant’s face, but Beau was radiating anger. No one kept him waiting, especially on a day like today.

“Did you explain how important this meeting was?” he snapped at his wife.

“Beau, I’ll remind you that we are in public. Further, I did not tell him to come to a ‘meeting,’ I invited him to breakfast with us.”

“And he’s decided to blow us off?”

“Adjust your tone,” Katherine said quietly. “Take a deep breath. You know Cain would never dare ‘blow you off.’ Perhaps we should head back to Crimson Moon, find out if there is something wrong.”

“I suppose you're right.”
